## In short

Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu is a house-made noodle shabu kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Daerim Munhyeon City Plaza in Munhyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan, where the noodle-making room is fully visible behind a glass wall. The writer watched the noodles being made, then ordered shabu kalguksu for two with a 140g sirloin add-on and ate it as a meat, noodle and fried rice course, refilling the self-bar of domestic napa cabbage kimchi. Between the noodles and the fried rice, Yunujae has become a regular spot with too many return visits to count.

The interior is done up in a clean white tone that suits both family meals and dates, and it's really pleasant. Every time I come, I notice how busy it is with customers too.

## The glass-walled noodle-making room you can watch from your table

On one side of Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu, there's a dedicated 'noodle-making room' right there, fully visible through a transparent glass wall! Inside, you can see bags of premium noodle-specific flour (Gompyo brand, made for strong noodle flour) stacked high, and a spotlessly maintained noodle machine, all with your own eyes.

## Unlimited domestic kimchi self-bar at Yunujae

![Self-bar for refilling domestic napa cabbage kimchi and kkakdugi](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room-06-1mj05-900.webp)

Lots of people are particular about the kimchi when eating kalguksu, right? Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu makes its own kimchi fresh every day using domestic napa cabbage, following a recipe passed down from a kimchi master in Mokpo. There's a self-bar set up on one side of the restaurant where you can comfortably refill as much delicious napa cabbage kimchi and kkakdugi as you want — kimchi lovers, help yourselves generously!

## Naver receipt review event: a free serving of sirloin

![Sign for the Naver receipt review free sirloin serving event](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room-07-6hsb7-900.webp)

Right now, they're running an amazing event where leaving a Naver receipt review gets you a full serving of sirloin for free! If you visit, don't forget to take part and load up on extra meat.

## Tablet ordering at every table

Every table has a T-order tablet installed! You can look at photos of the menu directly and order or make extra requests with just a touch, right from your seat, without calling a staff member — it's really convenient.

## Shabu kalguksu for two plus a 140g sirloin add-on: the full course

![Table setting of shabu kalguksu for two with a 140g sirloin add-on](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room-10-12iwi-900.webp)

This time I ordered shabu kalguksu for two plus a sirloin add-on (140g)! Here, the course flows from a spicy broth loaded with minari (water dropwort) and tender sirloin, to house-made kalguksu noodles (with a few sujebi/hand-torn dough pieces mixed in!), and finally fried rice at the end — and it's absolutely fantastic.

![A pot of spicy shabu broth loaded with minari](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room-11-m7wqc-900.webp)

In particular, the meat had no gamey smell at all and was tender, since they only use fresh beef — U.S. Choice grade and Australian S grade.

But what really made me a regular is the noodles. The owner apparently spent a whopping two years developing the house-made noodles to capture both the slickness of hand-cut kalguksu and the chewiness of Sanuki udon — and it shows, because the noodles are truly chewy and cling to your mouth perfectly. The food also comes out fast, so it's been satisfying every single time.

Following a recipe passed down directly from a kimchi master in Mokpo, they make their own kimchi fresh every day using domestic napa cabbage.

## The fried rice finish you can't stop eating, even when full

![Minari fried rice being cooked in the leftover broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room-19-1dbly-900.webp)

Honestly, this place is known for its shabu-shabu and kalguksu, but it deserves to be called a true fried rice spot too. They fry the rice in the rich, spicy broth that's been simmered with the meat and noodles — the umami really soaks in, and with plenty of fragrant minari mixed in, the texture and flavor are seriously no joke.

![The pot of fried rice scraped clean to the bottom](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room/munhyeon-dong-shabu-kalguksu-noodle-room-21-o55ld-900.webp)

I was definitely full, but the moment that savory smell hit me, I picked my spoon back up and ended up scraping the pot clean. 🤣 No matter how full you are when you visit, you absolutely must save room for the fried rice!
