## In short

Yanggyegok is a Korean restaurant serving dakgalbi and chicken stew a two-minute walk from Exit 4 of Yangjae Station in Gangnam, Seoul. The small dakbokkeumtang (spicy chicken stew) for two costs 31,000 won and comes with free ramen noodles, with fried rice at 3,000 won, a 10,000 won lunch special and a self-serve bar of side dishes including pickled pepper strips. The stew at Yanggyegok grows richer as the broth reduces, and the takeout order was good enough that both of the writer's daughters finished a full bowl of rice.

I'm a romantic "house-hunting" blogger who always ends up at a good restaurant after scouting properties. Yanggyegok near Yangjae Station is a chicken restaurant I visited for lunch after a property tour — I liked the dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken) so much I even packed some to take home. My daughters finished a whole bowl of rice each with it, that's how good it was. Here's my real review of Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station : >

## Where is Yanggyegok? A 2-minute walk from Yangjae Station Exit 4

Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, sits just 128 meters from Exit 4. We came down from the Eunkwang Girls' High School side while house-hunting, but from Yangjae Station it's a super close 2-minute walk with great accessibility.

### Yanggyegok opening hours and break time

Open daily 11:00–22:00, with a break time from 14:30 to 16:00.

## What does the 10,000 won lunch special at Yanggyegok include?

It was quiet when we did an 11 a.m. opening run, but by lunchtime the place filled up fast. Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, has a spacious hall with round tables, making it perfect for company dinners or all kinds of group gatherings.

Maybe because it was lunchtime, quite a few people were enjoying the lunch special. Yanggyegok is a dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) specialty restaurant, but my house-hunting buddy loves dakdoritang, so we ordered the dakdoritang (small) for two.

![Yanggyegok's dakdoritang menu price board](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-08-141jz-900.webp)

At Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, they give you free ramen noodles with a dakdoritang order, so we added fried rice and a sprite on top.

![Added sprite and a glass of water](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-10-1l505-900.webp)

Honestly the water was so cold and delicious that I ended up drinking more water than sprite.

![Basic side dishes of kimchi and pickled radish](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-11-64op9-900.webp)

They served kimchi and pickled radish as basic side dishes — the pickled radish went perfectly with the dakdoritang, and the kimchi was just right with the ramen and fried rice.

## Chicken stew for two at 31,000 won: what comes with it?

![Dakdoritang table setting served with ramen noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-12-14upo-900.webp)

At Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, the noodle add-on comes right along with the dish.

![Yanggyegok's dakdoritang topped with green onion, potato, and rice cake](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-13-1tqtc-1200.webp)

Big chunks of green onion sat on top, and there was plenty of tteok (rice cake) and potato mixed in. Dakdoritang with a shallow broth like this gets tastier the more it reduces, and as it boiled a spicy aroma rose up that got my saliva going.

### Fried rice for 3,000 won at Yanggyegok

The fried rice, fragrant with sesame oil, came topped with plenty of carrot, chives, and seaweed flakes. If you're eating dakdoritang at Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, you absolutely have to try this fried rice. It's genuinely so good.

![Dakdoritang broth starting to boil with potatoes](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-14-lglfc-900.webp)

The potatoes cooked up nice and fluffy — I tried them together with the chicken drumstick, but figured it'd be even better once the broth reduced a bit more, so in went the ramen noodles!!!

![Ramen noodles added into the dakdoritang](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-15-1my2t-900.webp)

![Ramen noodles in dakdoritang with reduced broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-16-nrmjw-900.webp)

![Fishing out seasoned ramen noodles and rice cake](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-17-r4s45-900.webp)

Thanks to the noodles, the broth reduced quickly and the ramen soaked up all that seasoning, making it delicious. The chewy tteok also gets tastier the more the seasoning sinks in, so even if you're dying to eat it right away, holding off a bit makes it even better.

Yanggyegok is a dakgalbi specialty restaurant, and as the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, you can instantly tell they use fresh chicken just from how good the texture of the meat is.

![Glass of iced sprite next to the dakdoritang](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-18-1vvsv-900.webp)

At Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, they also sell highballs in various flavors, so that might be worth trying too. I drank my iced sprite while pretending it was a highball, haha. Ramen and kimchi together — that's just the rule.

> The savoriness deepens the more the broth reduces! Remember, patience isn't just for investing — it applies to food too!!

## Yanggyegok's self-serve side dish bar: don't skip the pickled pepper strips

![Self-serve side dish bar at Yanggyegok](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-19-a9uq8-900.webp)

![Plate of self-serve side dishes including pickled pepper strips](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-20-1yjrs-900.webp)

The self-serve bar at Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, had a variety of side dishes kept neat and clean. That pickled pepper strip was genuinely delicious — it would've been a shame to skip the self-serve bar. It's best to take just as much as you'll eat.

A staff member stir-fried the fried rice with dazzling skill and laid it out neat and flat.

![Fried rice laid out flat in a yellow pot](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok/yangjae-dakbokkeumtang-takeout-yanggyeok-21-pyq70-900.webp)

Fried rice that's just slightly crisped onto the yellow pot is beyond delicious. The smell alone was so intense that the moment I took a bite, I was blown away!!! You absolutely must eat the fried rice at Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station. Seriously, don't skip it~!! It's even better paired with the pickled pepper strips.

## Chicken stew takeout from Yanggyegok: dinner for the daughters

The dakdoritang at Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, was so good, and cooking dinner after house-hunting sounded exhausting, so I asked for it packed to go. They included kimchi and pickled radish too, and my daughters came home from school and each finished a full bowl of rice with it.

Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, is a gukbap (rice soup) and meat specialty restaurant that's been running for three generations. It carries on a grandmother's cooking and her principle that honesty is the golden rule in food business, so next time I want to try the gukbap and the dakgalbi too. As cooler breezes start to blow in, I think I'll come back for a hot bowl of gukbap. That was Yanggyegok, the dakdoritang spot near Yangjae Station, complete with perfect takeout.
