## In short

Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch is a Korean restaurant newly opened on basement level 2 of Jongno Tower, by Jonggak Station in Seoul. The octopus stir-fry set costs 16,000 won and the pork stir-fry set 15,000 won, both ordered with your chosen spice level, and each arrives with rice hidden under the stir-fry plate plus perilla seed soup, white kimchi and sweet pumpkin porridge. The torch-seared pork stir-fry is full of smoky char and the perilla seed soup comes in a generous portion, making Bonghyejane a solid set-meal stop in Jongno.

## Bonghyejane Jubang: a new Korean restaurant on Jongno Tower's basement level 2

This is the newly opened Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch. They have several locations, so I'd recommend visiting whichever one is closest to you.

A Jonggak Korean restaurant located on B2. Since it just opened, there weren't many reviews yet, so I hurried over to check it out!

It's located inside the clean Jongno Tower, so the restaurant itself is really comfortable and tidy!

## What's on the menu at Bonghyejane Jubang, and what the room feels like

Bonghyejane, a Jonggak Korean restaurant favorite, has a variety of Korean dishes ready — whole octopus stir-fry, baby octopus stir-fry, beef bulgogi, seafood soft tofu stew, pork stir-fry, and more.

The tile flooring underfoot really catches your eye, and it makes the interior feel warmer and brighter! I'd highly recommend this spot for family gatherings or dates too. The owner greeted me warmly the moment I walked in, and it made the place feel full of warmth!

They're also running a review event. If you leave a review, you get a bottle of alcohol or a drink — worth keeping in mind!

If you tap to order the review event, the owner brings you the receipt.

I liked that the dishes come as set meals. The set includes rice and perilla soup, so you get to enjoy a neat, complete table!

They also have two banquet-style options, Hyeja Feast Table and Hyeja Dish Table, which are good picks if you want to enjoy a wider variety of side dishes together.

## Ordering the 16,000 won octopus set and 15,000 won pork stir-fry set

- Octopus stir-fry set ₩16,000
- Pork stir-fry set ₩15,000

The set meals come out beautifully arranged. Dishes with the red sauce let you choose your spice level — I picked regular spicy for the octopus and mild for the pork. This Jonggak Korean restaurant, Bonghyejane, is the best when it comes to a full table!

White kimchi to cool down the spice, savory roasted peanuts, seaweed to wrap around the rice, and even sweet pumpkin porridge! The basic side dishes were really varied too.

### Where is the rice? Hidden under the stir-fry plate

At first I thought, "Wait, where's the rice?" — but it turns out the rice is placed underneath the plate holding the stir-fry. Not gonna lie, I was a little flustered when I couldn't find it :)

Ta-da~ It comes with roasted seaweed flakes and lettuce, perfect for mixing with the stir-fry! There was also sesame oil on the table, so I added plenty.

The pumpkin porridge was really sweet and easy to eat. This Jonggak Station Korean restaurant, Bonghyejane, serves such a neat, complete table — the best, truly the best!

## How do the whole octopus and torch-seared pork stir-fry taste?

Plump octopus pieces packed in generously, plus cabbage, which I love, in equal abundance — it was really delicious! I think it's because the sauce itself was so good, but mixing the sauce into the rice was the best part.

Biting into one plump piece of octopus is enough to melt away a day's worth of stress.

The pork stir-fry had a fully smoky flavor, likely because the surface was seared with a torch! This one was also loaded with onion and cabbage, and I enjoyed it a lot.

### How much perilla seed soup comes with each set?

The perilla soup that comes along with the set — I honestly expected a small portion since it was a side, but it was quite generous, filling enough to be a meal on its own!

![Perilla soup with jorangi rice cakes and mushrooms](https://img.superchart.com/images/jonggak-korean-set-meal-bonghyeja-kitchen/jonggak-korean-set-meal-bonghyeja-kitchen-19-11twb-900.webp)

A perilla soup packed full of perilla! With chewy jorangi rice cakes and mushrooms inside for texture, plus that nutty perilla flavor and a touch of sesame oil — it was really delicious. I'll wrap up this review by recommending Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch, a true Jonggak Korean restaurant favorite.
