## In short

Nagwon-ui Soba Bossam Kalguksu Chungmuro Station Main Branch is a handmade-noodle soba and bossam kalguksu restaurant a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Chungmuro Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. A small bossam (boiled pork with wraps) at 36,000 won, jang-kalguksu (spicy knife-cut noodle soup) at 11,000 won and a rice ball at 4,000 won came to 51,000 won for two, and the clean broth with no floury taste was the kick of the meal. Eat the bossam first and finish with the jang-kalguksu at Nagwon-ui Soba and neither dish gets tiring.

Lunch at a Chungmuro Station Korean restaurant — this is Nagwon-ui Soba Bossam Kalguksu Chungmuro Station Main Branch.

> One-line review — buckwheat noodles freshly made every day, plus bossam. A homemade soba spot that more than earns its reputation as a Chungmuro favorite.

## Who is Nagwon-ui Soba in Chungmuro right for?

- Anyone looking for homemade soba (buckwheat noodles) around Chungmuro or Dongguk University
- Anyone deciding on a spot for a Euljiro or Chungmuro work dinner
- Fans of memil soba, momil soba, or cold buckwheat noodles
- Anyone who wants noodles as cold and refreshing as slushy-iced naengmyeon
- Anyone who wants to enjoy bossam and kalguksu together
- Anyone looking for a place that's easy to visit with foreign guests

## Parking and how to reach Nagwon-ui Soba from Chungmuro Station

Nagwon-ui Soba Bossam Kalguksu Chungmuro Station Main Branch is a 5-minute walk from Chungmuro Station Exit 1. I stopped by for dinner while wandering the neighborhood. It's open daily from 10:45am to 9pm, with a break time on weekdays from 3pm to 4:30pm — no break time on weekends. Last order is at 8pm, and reservations are easy to make through Naver Reservation.

![Info signage for Nagwon-ui Soba Chungmuro Station branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu-04-1ek11-966.webp)

There are several naengmyeon and buckwheat noodle specialists around Chungmuro and Euljiro, but compared to those, Nagwon-ui Soba clearly stood out for using buckwheat noodles kneaded and cut fresh every morning. Unlike franchise naengmyeon shops that use pre-made noodles, the homemade noodles here felt fresh from the very first bite. The brand started small in Seoul National University Station back in 2018 and has since expanded to Chungmuro, so if you search for Chungmuro or Euljiro restaurants, this is a name you'll run into sooner or later.

For parking, you can use the paid Mukjeong Park public parking lot. That's where I parked — just over an hour cost about ₩5,000 — and it's about a 5-minute walk from there to the restaurant. The Hessen Mart building (the one with Starbucks) across the street also has paid parking, worth keeping in mind.

## What the second-floor dining room feels like

The Chungmuro Station branch of Nagwon-ui Soba had an overall clean, tidy feel. A foreign-language menu was ready, making it an easy place for international visitors to drop into. The moment I stepped inside, I understood why people working or studying around Chungmuro, Dongguk, and Euljiro line up here for lunch.

## Menu and total cost for two: 51,000 won

On this visit I ordered the small bossam, jang-kalguksu, and a rice ball. Bossam and kalguksu are new menu items introduced after the move to Chungmuro, so now you can enjoy them alongside the original signature items, naengmomil (cold buckwheat noodles) and memil soba.

![Table setting with small bossam, jang-kalguksu, and rice ball](https://img.superchart.com/images/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu-10-1am4i-966.webp)

Small bossam at ₩36,000, jang-kalguksu at ₩11,000, and a rice ball at ₩4,000 came to ₩51,000 total — split between two people, that's roughly mid-₩20,000s per person. If you're just planning to have a light bowl of soba on its own, you can enjoy the meal for a much smaller budget.

## Small bossam, 36,000 won — even the lean pork stayed tender

![A generously piled plate of small bossam](https://img.superchart.com/images/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu-11-y5347-966.webp)

![Picking up a piece of bossam](https://img.superchart.com/images/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu-14-1jvl6-966.webp)

The small bossam (ultra-fresh pork boiled fresh every day, ₩36,000) was notable for how tender even the lean parts were. The portion was very generous from the start. The moment I picked up a piece, you could see the grain of the meat, and with every bite even the lean parts pulled apart tenderly, releasing a subtle juiciness.

![Cross-section of clean, gamey-smell-free bossam](https://img.superchart.com/images/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu/chungmuro-nagwon-soba-bossam-jangkalguksu-15-rmsvu-966.webp)

True to the description that it's boiled fresh daily, I first noticed a clean meaty aroma with no gamey smell at all, and the more I chewed, the longer a savory, mellow flavor lingered in my mouth.

## Jang-kalguksu, 11,000 won — a clean broth with no floury taste

Jang-kalguksu (spicy knife-cut noodles topped with egg, roasted sesame, and gim/seaweed flakes, ₩11,000) uses the restaurant's own homemade noodles. This dish was the real kick of the meal. Jang-kalguksu often has a broth with a strong floury taste, but the broth here was genuinely clean. The first spoonful gave more of a clean savoriness than heaviness, and with the egg mixed in, it had a mellow yet oddly familiar savoriness reminiscent of ramyeon broth. The roasted sesame and gim flakes added aroma, so I could finish the broth right to the last drop without any heaviness.

### Rice ball, 4,000 won, and the best order to eat everything in

The rice ball (₩4,000) is a basic one with mayonnaise and gim. It has that familiar mayonnaise-and-seaweed flavor, which made it a perfect thing to nibble on between bites of the spicy noodles. My foolproof tip: eat the bossam first, then finish with the jang-kalguksu. The mellow bossam and the clean-broth noodles balance each other out, so you never get tired of either one right to the end.

## What I liked, what fell short, and my verdict on Nagwon-ui Soba

👍 What I liked

- Convenient location, just 5 minutes on foot from Chungmuro Station Exit 1
- The freshness of buckwheat noodles kneaded and cut by hand every day
- A clean jang-kalguksu broth with no floury taste
- Ultra-fresh boiled pork bossam, tender even in the lean parts
- Foreign-language menu makes it easy for international guests to visit
- Easy to book through Naver Reservation

👀 What fell short

- There's a weekday break time, so check the hours before visiting
- There may be a lunch queue during busy hours

🧾 Overall — Nagwon-ui Soba Bossam Kalguksu Chungmuro Station Main Branch lived up to its reputation as a go-to Chungmuro and Dongguk University restaurant. The freshness of the homemade noodles, the clean jang-kalguksu broth, and the generous bossam were all satisfying. It would work well for a Euljiro or Chungmuro work dinner too, and next time I'm back near Chungmuro, I definitely want to try the naengmomil as well.
