I drank until dawn on Friday and woke up Saturday without a real hangover, but somehow felt hollowed out and craving a spicy hot pot of gukbap. So I went to Gohyangok Spicy Sundaeguk, a sundaeguk spot in Suwon a coworker who lives there recommended!

Turns out this Suwon sundaeguk spot is actually a franchise? But it was so good it put local favorites to shame — I'm officially a regular now! Ansan has tons of great sundaeguk places too, but this one had its own standout charm haha. Honestly feels like they should open more branches nationwide.

## Where is Gohyangok Spicy Sundaeguk Suwon Omokcheon Branch? Parking and hours

This Suwon sundaeguk restaurant sits right next to Gosaek Bridge, about a 7-minute drive from Omokcheon Station or Gosaek Station. It's right in front of Old Ferry Donut, so it could make a nice course together? Parking was easy too — the lot in front fits over 30 cars.

Wow, I went around 1pm on a Saturday, and even though the place is fairly big, it was already full! Definitely a popular Suwon sundaeguk spot haha. There were about 3 teams waiting ahead of us.

We got the spicy sundaeguk pyeonbaek set for 19,000 won and siraegi sundaeguk for 11,000 won. Any main dish (except hwangtae haejangguk) can be upgraded to a pyeonbaek set for an extra 7,000 won, and just one pyeonbaek platter looked like plenty, so we ordered one single dish and one set between the two of us. Also, this Suwon sundaeguk spot gives free ttukbaegi broth to preschool-age kids, which should help ease the dining bill for families.

Here are the basic side dishes. Yeolmu kimchi and seokbakji that go so well with gukbap, plus mu-mal랭이 (dried radish strips), soy sauce, ssamjang, peppers, onions, and noodles all come as standard.

All the basic side dishes, including the noodles, can be taken freely from the self-serve bar!

## Siraegi sundaeguk, 11,000 won: the best bowl for a hangover

Siraegi sundaeguk (dried radish green sundae soup), 11,000 won. Packed with nutty perilla seeds! Loaded with tender siraegi! Savory yet fragrant, mellow yet clean broth — it was outstanding. Not irritating at all and easy on the stomach, so it was exactly what I needed for a hangover haha.

No other organ pieces, just sundae, but since the sundae itself is delicious, no complaints there. The siraegi wasn't tough at all, just soft and really tasty.

Spicy sundaeguk pyeonbaek set, 19,000 won. Since the restaurant is literally named Gohyangok Spicy Sundaeguk, I figured I had to try the spicy version haha. And wow, now I get why it's named that — it's genuinely, deliciously spicy! Hahahaha.

This Suwon sundaeguk restaurant apparently uses only 100% Korean-sourced front leg bones for the broth, so it's rich and deep but clean, without any greasiness, and with the spiciness added on top, it's the kind of flavor any Korean would love haha.

The pyeonyuk platter alone could handle two bottles of makgeolli haha. All four items for 7,000 won — total steal, right? This Suwon sundaeguk restaurant has affordable prices with food that's way better than you'd expect, so I'll definitely be back whenever I'm craving sundaeguk haha.
