## In short

Sangam Hoegwan is a kongguksu and noodle restaurant in the basement 1F food court of Sangam IT Tower in Mapo-gu, Seoul. On a lunch visit with kids, the writer ordered perilla oil mil-myeon, sweet pumpkin kongguksu (chilled soy milk noodles) and "mom's kimchi bibim noodles", all as mandu sets, and shared them around; every set came with two fist-sized pork dumplings. The dumplings made the meal far more filling than noodles alone, and the adjacent lot gives 2 hours free parking — an easy family lunch in Sangam.

We had somewhere to be near Sangam with the kids, so I was looking up what to eat and landed on Sangam Hoegwan (상암회관). This place is actually pretty famous for its kongguksu (cold soy milk noodles), but I figured if it only served kongguksu, picking a menu for the kids might be a bit tricky. Turns out there were way more options than I expected once we got there, so we decided to just order a few different things and share. Perilla oil mil-myeon, sweet pumpkin kongguksu, and kimchi bibim noodles named 'mom's kimchi bibim guksu'! And we ordered all three as mandu (dumpling) sets.

## Where is Sangam Hoegwan? Basement food court at Sangam IT Tower

Sangam Hoegwan is in the basement 1F food court of Sangam IT Tower, at 434 World Cup buk-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. At first, the name made me assume it'd be a standalone restaurant like usual, but it's actually tucked inside the food court in the basement of Sangam IT Tower. Being a food court made it pretty comfortable to eat with the kids, and we ordered a whole spread — perilla mil-myeon, pumpkin kongguksu, kimchi bibim noodles — to share. Each dish tasted noticeably different, so it was fun as a family trying a little of everything.

### Ordering by kiosk and parking at Sangam Hoegwan

You order via kiosk, and there's a parking lot right next door, so you can get 2 hours free parking too :-)

## What does the perilla oil mil-myeon taste like?

> Loved the nutty perilla oil aroma of the mil-myeon

First up was the perilla oil mil-myeon. At first I thought it might be like a perilla oil bibim noodle, but the actual menu name is 'perilla oil mil-myeon.' The distinct nutty perilla oil scent comes through strongly, but the flavor itself isn't harsh, so it was easy to eat without feeling like too much.

Bibim noodles are usually spicy or have a strong seasoning kick, but this one is centered on that nutty perilla flavor, so it worked well alongside the other noodles too. Especially with kids, it was nice having one non-spicy option in the mix.

## Sweet pumpkin kongguksu the kids actually ate

> The color alone made the pumpkin kongguksu stand out

Next, out of curiosity, we ordered the sweet pumpkin kongguksu. It looks completely different from regular kongguksu right from the start. Adding pumpkin to the nutty soy milk base makes the whole thing feel softer and richer, and it wasn't too much for the kids either.

Kids often shy away from regular kongguksu because of that distinct soybean smell. But with pumpkin added, it felt like a much easier entry point compared to the standard version! Sangam Hoegwan is known for its rich, thick soy milk, so if you like kongguksu, it might be fun to compare the regular version against the pumpkin one.

## Why the mom's kimchi bibim noodles are worth adding

> The kimchi bibim noodles that really woke up our taste buds

After a while of nutty dishes, you start craving something spicy and tangy, and that's exactly the role the kimchi bibim noodles played. Even the name gives off that vibe of your mom quickly tossing together a kimchi noodle dish at home, haha.

If the perilla mil-myeon and pumpkin kongguksu lean nutty, the kimchi bibim noodles are the one that snaps your palate back to life, so ordering all three together turned out to be a great combo. Rather than eating just one dish the whole time, going nutty perilla mil-myeon → soft pumpkin kongguksu → kimchi bibim noodles in rotation meant the flavors never overlapped, which I liked.

## The mandu set: two pork dumplings bigger than expected

> So glad we ordered the mandu set!

Something I personally really liked about Sangam Hoegwan was the mandu (dumpling) set. We ordered all three noodle dishes as mandu sets, and each came with two pork dumplings alongside the noodles.

![Two pork dumplings served with the mandu set](https://img.superchart.com/images/sangam-hoegwan-kids-family-noodles/sangam-hoegwan-kids-family-noodles-16-fpxew-966.webp)

![A plate of large pork dumplings](https://img.superchart.com/images/sangam-hoegwan-kids-family-noodles/sangam-hoegwan-kids-family-noodles-17-111ek-966.webp)

But I was surprised at how big the dumplings actually were. Not the small kind you casually add on the side — these were fist-sized pork dumplings with a pretty generous filling, filling enough that just one dumpling was already satisfying. Noodles alone tend to leave you hungry again quickly, but with two big pork dumplings on the side, the meal felt much more substantial.

This setup was especially nice with the kids, since they don't always finish a whole bowl of noodles cleanly. We shared several kinds of noodles between us and snacked on dumplings in between, which made choosing what to order a lot easier. If you're visiting as a family like we did, I'd personally recommend going with the mandu set and sharing several dishes rather than just ordering a single noodle dish.

## Is Sangam Hoegwan a good noodle lunch with kids?

I originally figured Sangam Hoegwan, being known for its kongguksu, would mostly appeal to adults. But going with the kids, I found the menu had more variety than expected, making it a solid choice for a family meal. There's the mild perilla mil-myeon, the slightly different pumpkin kongguksu, and the kimchi bibim noodles for a flavor kick — so if you go as a group, everyone can pick according to their taste.

And above all, the big pork dumplings in the mandu set were genuinely filling, so there was none of the letdown you might feel eating noodles alone. If you're looking for somewhere to eat with kids in Sangam, or you're craving kongguksu or perilla mil-myeon, this is a Sangam-dong restaurant worth stopping by.
