## In short

Minimale Coffee Roaster Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town Branch is a spacious roastery café on the first floor of Gwacheon E-Tower in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi. Finished lunch in Gwacheon's Jijeongta district and thought, where should I go for a little something after~ and landed on 'Minimale'. Heard it even offers 3 hours of free parking on weekdays, and honestly the stylish interior caught my eye right away ☕️👀 Since I'm having coffee anyway, might as well enjoy it somewhere pretty, right

## From the Gwacheon E-Tower parking lot to the café door

Park at Gwacheon E-Tower, come up to the 1st floor, and there's a gate. Go through it, step outside the building, and the café is right there next to you.

Here it is! Clean-looking from the outside already.

Staff greeted us kindly. And I really liked the black-and-white interior. You can order at the kiosk or just ask a staff member.

## Gift sets and thick-cut bakery at Minimale

Ah, and this place also sells a lot of items good for gifts. Given the nature of Jijeongta, with lots of newly moved-in companies and apartments, if you ever need a gift for a visit, this could be a good spot to grab one. Minimale Coffee Roaster also sells a variety of baked goods besides coffee. I'm seriously a fiend for thick cookies, so I wanted to try every single one. Such a mouthwatering thickness!!!

My partner's pick was the Victoria scone!! Apparently it's a signature scone reinterpreting the English jam-and-butter scone that Queen Victoria loved back in the 19th century. If it's the signature scone, gotta try it, haha

## Which bean to pick: Balance, Dunkel or decaf

What I ordered was

- ☕ Iced Americano
- 🥛 Iced Helsinki Latte
- 🥐 Victoria scone

I was really looking forward to the Helsinki Latte since it's the signature here. Minimale Coffee Roaster has 3 kinds of beans.

- Balance: Ethiopian bean with pleasant acidity and clean sweetness
- Dunkel: heavy body and dark chocolate flavor
- Decaf: Colombian coffee flavor without the caffeine worry

I ordered the iced Americano as decaf, and the Helsinki Latte with Dunkel beans.

It was a weekday afternoon past lunch time, but the place was still packed with customers

Finally out!

*Helsinki Latte, Americano, and Victoria scone*

The gradation of coffee and milk.... so beautiful!

Heard the bakery items are made in-house here, so I was excited for that flavor too.

Let's dig in!

## How does the iced Helsinki Latte taste at sweetness level 1.5?

First, the Helsinki Latte.... wow, delicious!!!!

There's a reason it's popular...! The sweetness is subtle, not too heavy, and you get the coffee aroma and the milk's smoothness at the same time. Almost no bitterness came through, but that didn't mean the coffee flavor was weak either. Above all, the sweetness level was just right. The menu description says the sweetness is about 1.5 out of 5, and that description really nails it. Nowhere near the syrup-heavy sweetness you get elsewhere, so it was easy to drink without feeling guilty.

![Iced Helsinki Latte glass after one sip](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwacheon-minimale-iced-helsinki-latte-victoria-scone/gwacheon-minimale-iced-helsinki-latte-victoria-scone-14-y55nf-1200.webp)

If you're like me — someone who likes a sweet latte but doesn't prefer one that's too sweet or too milk-forward — you'll probably like this quite a lot. In particular, the flavor didn't go flat even as the ice melted. Sometimes when I order a sweet latte, by the end, as the ice melts, it starts tasting like a syrup drink... but the Helsinki Latte never gave me that feeling.

I thought this menu strikes a good middle ground — for people who insist 'a latte has to be sweet!' and also for people who find overly sweet lattes too much. My partner's Americano was good too, apparently. I didn't try it myself so I can't describe it in detail, haha

## Victoria scone: texture and the jam-and-cream pairing

And then the Victoria scone we ordered! With scones, if they crumble too much they're annoying to eat, and if they're too dry it's a fail — but Minimale's scone had just the right texture and a really nice nutty flavor. The outside was lightly plain and savory, and biting in gave a texture that crumbled softly, which I liked.

![Victoria scone split in half showing the inside](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwacheon-minimale-iced-helsinki-latte-victoria-scone/gwacheon-minimale-iced-helsinki-latte-victoria-scone-15-1k3rt-900.webp)

That said, it wasn't too dry inside your mouth either. The more you chewed, a subtle butter aroma came up, which was delicious. Add the soft cream and the sweet-tart strawberry jam on top, and how could it not be good!!! Haha The plainness of the scone itself really let the cream and jam flavors shine, so switching between that and the coffee, it disappeared in no time! Scones really do taste best with coffee.

## Weekday afternoon atmosphere and a parking tip

Had our little dessert time chatting away haha, and by around 3pm there were a lot of people who seemed to be out from work on a break or a meeting.

If you're looking for a Gwacheon café where you can enjoy coffee and bakery together in the Jijeongta area, this is one I'd recommend. Especially the Helsinki Latte, which I tried for the first time that day — I liked it way more than expected, enough that I'd want to come back and have it again. Wish it were right in front of my house... haha If you want a comfortable atmosphere with good coffee and a sweet dessert, this is a place worth remembering.

+ Ah, and for parking, there's a pad at the ordering counter. Just enter your car number there yourself and 3 hours free is applied, so don't forget :)
