I wanted raw fish and spicy fish stew together on a rainy day in Hongdae, so I stopped by Eosa Chulto Hongdae Branch. At the time of my visit, the flounder+rockfish medium platter was ₩60,000, and after the raw fish came the spicy fish stew with ramyeon noodles added. This is based on my visit on 2026.09.04.

The basic side dishes were simple, but the evening ran from vegetable pancake through flounder and rockfish to the final spicy fish stew.

The ₩60,000 price in the original post reflects what I ordered at the time. ## Past the fish tank and into the restaurant

The fish tank out front and the entrance are visible together. I got to see the fish in the tank right before going in. Since I'd come for raw fish, seeing a tank like this right away was oddly reassuring.

This is the rainy Hongdae alley as seen from inside the restaurant. Outside was damp, but inside there was that raw-fish-and-soju kind of mood. The rainy evening and the interior scene made for a natural contrast.

## Checking the menu and ordering flounder and rockfish

## Basic side dishes and vegetable pancake

Garlic, chili peppers, pickled radish, wasabi, ginger, and sauces were set as the basic side dishes, along with lighter items like corn salad.

The banchan wasn't the elaborate, many-dish style, so if you're looking for a raw fish restaurant with a lot of sashimi sides, this might feel sparse. Since we tend to eat a lot of the raw fish itself, it wasn't much of a letdown for us.

Unexpectedly, what stuck with me was the vegetable pancake (yachaejeon).

Fried thin and golden and crisp, we tore off pieces and ate them one by one before the raw fish arrived. It was the kind of dish that kept our hands reaching for it as a drinking snack.

The raw fish was separated by type on a black tray, with ice and garnish in the middle. In the photo, the portion looked quite generous.

I put two pieces of raw fish along with garlic and ssamjang on a lettuce leaf and ate it in one bite. I started with wasabi soy sauce, then switched to this lettuce-wrap style partway through. Even with the same fish, changing how you eat it made it feel different.

When I wanted to taste the fish itself, I dipped it in soy sauce; when I wanted something more filling, I wrapped it in lettuce — I ended up eating it both ways.

Ordering the flounder+rockfish came with the spicy fish stew at no extra charge. Sometimes ending with just raw fish feels a little lacking, but this time a hot soup came in at the end.

Here's the stew with ramyeon noodles added. Inside were fish and bean sprouts, and we added the ramyeon noodles and let it boil. Once the noodles started softening in the broth, it basically turned into a meal.

While eating the raw fish, it was mostly cold food, so having a hot stew arrive at the end felt very satisfying. Since it was raining that day, the warm broth was even more welcome. With the stew and ramyeon noodles after the raw fish, the evening didn't end with just a plate of sashimi — it turned into a full meal.

## Wrapping up a rainy evening

Outside it was raining, and on the table the stew was bubbling away. It's a scene that stayed with me as a memorable evening of drinks in Hongdae.

Next time, if I visit with two or more people, I'd probably choose a mixed platter like flounder+rockfish again, and add ramyeon noodles to the stew at the end once more. For a 2-3 person drinking dinner in Hongdae where you want raw fish and spicy fish stew together, this feels like the kind of evening that runs from raw fish to hot soup, just like this one did.
