## In short

Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch is a Chinese restaurant on the second floor between Exit 1 of Gangnam Station and Exit 3 of Yeoksam Station in Gangnam, Seoul. On this visit the order was jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), menbosha (deep-fried shrimp toast) and sticky-rice sweet and sour pork, with unlimited bowls of rice spooned into the fiery broth and self-serve yuja and plum drinks to finish. With spice levels 1 to 4 to choose from, Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch works just as well for a solo lunch as for a team dinner.

It's a great place to hit when you're craving a spicy jjamppong around Yeoksam Station, and the standout feature is being able to choose your own spice level. Beyond jjamppong, there's a wide range of Chinese dishes and cooked plates, so it looked good for everything from solo lunches to group dinners and company get-togethers.

## Inside the second-floor dining room and terrace seats

The Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch store is on the 2nd floor, and the interior was more spacious and pleasant than I expected. There are plenty of 2-tops and 4-tops with generous spacing between them, so it works for solo diners and groups alike, and I could eat comfortably. On a nice day, the terrace seating looked like another appealing option.

In the middle of the restaurant there's a self-serve bar where you can help yourself to basics like pickled radish, onion, and jjajangmyeon pickles, plus rice and drinks. You can take as much as you need, which was convenient, and the overall service flow felt well thought out.

## Menu and spice levels 1 to 4 at Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch

The menu ranges widely, from meal items like jjamppong and jjajangmyeon to cooked dishes like sweet and sour pork and menbosha. There are also dumplings and half-and-half combos, so it's easy to pick something that suits your taste.

Jjamppong and jjajangmyeon in particular let you pick a spice level. There are basically four levels to choose from, 1 through 4, so even people who aren't great with spicy food can ease into it.

On this visit, I ordered the following:

- Jjamppong
- Menbosha
- Sticky-rice sweet and sour pork

The food came out fairly quickly, and once all three dishes were laid out together, the table looked quite full. The portions were generous too, so it made for a satisfying, filling meal.

### Jjamppong: how spicy is the broth?

I started with the jjamppong broth. It was spicy and sharp in a way that felt refreshing, almost clearing my head.

It wasn't overwhelmingly spicy just for the sake of it — the broth had a clean heat that would work well as a hangover cure too. If you like spicy food, this will suit your taste, and if you're not confident with spice, I'd recommend starting with a lower level.

The jjamppong was loaded with meat, squid, and various vegetables. Beyond enjoying the broth and noodles together, picking out the toppings was its own kind of fun.

Eating the jjamppong naturally made me want to mix in some rice. I loved that Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch offers free rice refills, so I could make the most of the leftover broth too.

### Menbosha, the crispy fried shrimp toast

The menbosha (fried shrimp toast) I ordered alongside came out fried crispy on the outside, with a great texture. Inside the crunchy coating, the shrimp flavor really came through, and it paired well with the jjamppong.

It's a great side dish to add when ordering just a soup-based menu like jjamppong feels like it's not quite enough. If you're dining with a few people, it's also a good option to share.

### Chewy sticky-rice sweet and sour pork

Personally, the sticky-rice sweet and sour pork was one of the most satisfying dishes of the meal. It was crispy outside while staying chewy inside, and it wasn't overly hard, so it was easy to eat. Paired with the sauce, the sweet, savory balance was so good that I kept reaching for more. It was also a great match alongside the jjajangmyeon or jjamppong.

## Unlimited rice refills and the self-serve yuja and plum drinks

To wrap up the meal, I mixed the leftover jjamppong broth with rice. Since rice refills are unlimited, I was able to enjoy every last bit of the broth and toppings without waste.

The self-serve corner also had yuzu and plum drinks, which were great for cleansing the palate after the meal. It was a nice touch to have a way to finish a Chinese meal on a clean, refreshing note.

## Is Jjamppong Jijon worth it for a Yeoksam Station lunch?

Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch is easy to access, sitting between Yeoksam Station and Gangnam Station, and the clean, tidy interior makes it a good lunch spot for office workers. From the spicy jjamppong to the crispy menbosha and chewy sticky-rice sweet and sour pork, I got to enjoy a wide variety of dishes in one visit, and the free rice refills and drink service were both satisfying.
