Indian curry seems like a great choice for those moments. Chicken makhani curry is one of my favorite curry styles, so I had high expectations. Its smooth tomato base and subtle spice made it easy to enjoy without feeling overwhelming. Strong spices can be a matter of taste, but this was nicely balanced overall, making it a relatively approachable option even for people trying Indian curry for the first time. The chicken went well with the curry too. The tenderly cooked chicken had absorbed plenty of curry, so it was good on its own, and of course it paired beautifully with the sauce. It would be good with rice, but I think it would go especially well with naan (Indian leavened flatbread) if you want to fully enjoy the curry's flavor. The unexpectedly satisfying dish from this visit was the flat iron steak. Adding a meat dish rather than ordering curry alone made the meal feel much more substantial. This time, I ordered mango lassi. Its sweet, smooth mango flavor neatly refreshed my palate between the curry's spices, so it was great with the food.
