## In short

Jju Baksa Magok Branch is a hot-plate webfoot octopus restaurant near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station Exit 8 in Gangseo, Seoul. Two servings of hot-plate jjusam (octopus and beef brisket, ₩15,000 per person) came at medium spice with a free steamed egg, wrapped in perilla leaves, radish, bean sprouts and cheonsachae, then finished with cheese fried rice. The park right outside makes the window seats and outdoor tables a real draw, and this is a place worth going back to.

I was craving something spicy so I went to grab webfoot octopus near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station. This time I visited Jju Baksa Magok Branch 🐙

## Location and hours of Jju Baksa Magok Branch

You can smell the octopus-restaurant vibe just from the outside. It's within walking distance from Exit 8 of Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station, on the 1st floor of Daebang DMC Officetel 2 ‼️

## Atmosphere and the outdoor tables facing the park

When I visited, every table was full, from the inner seats all the way to the window side!! There were even people waiting 😳 There are also seats further back that don't show in the photo, plus outdoor tables. The windows are big, so you get a great view of outside even from the inner seats!!

![Outdoor tables set up outside the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-03-1bcyh-m-900.webp)

There were separate tables outside too. Some people were eating outdoors when I was there — since there's a park right in front, eating outside on a cool day seemed really nice. Right now with the cool weather, outdoor seating is perfect 👍

![Park view seen from the window seat in front of the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-04-147wk-900.webp)

Especially with the park right in front of the restaurant, sitting by the window gives you this kind of view haha. It was already dark by the time I left after eating, and at night the lights come on and the mood changes completely.

## Hot-plate jjusam price and spice options

The menu ranges from hot-plate octopus to jjusamgyeop, jjusam (octopus + beef brisket), and jjusamsae. The hot-plate jjusam I had was ₩15,000 per person, so ₩30,000 for two. I love both octopus and beef brisket so I decided the moment I saw the menu haha

![Tablet ordering screen showing hot-plate octopus menu items](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-05-19gju-900.webp)

Ordering was easy since you do it right at the table on a tablet. The descriptions were detailed too, so it was easy to choose.

For hot-plate jjusam you can choose mild / medium / spicy — we went with medium! A little spicier than Shin Ramyun! And get this, the steamed egg comes free!!! ₩30,000 for two people including a free steamed egg is total value for money.

The side menu was pretty varied too. Everything from ramyun to sorbet, so next time I leave the car at home it's definitely soju time 🍺🍻

## Magok lunch set for ₩10,000

There's also a separate lunch set. It's available from 11am to 3pm, minimum order of two people. Grilled dish + cheese steamed egg + hot-plate fried rice for ₩10,000. There are a lot of offices in Magok, so I highly recommend this as a Magok lunch spot ‼️

There was also a review event — participating in the Naver receipt review or the Instagram hashtag event got you a drink or beverage.

![Notice for the receipt review and hashtag review event](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-09-1muzo-m-885.webp)

## How to eat, and the side dishes

When the octopus comes out, it said to cook it first, and once the rice cake softens, start with the smaller pieces of octopus. After finishing, you can make fried rice with the leftover sauce, so the finishing dish felt decided from the start^^

![How-to-eat instructions placed on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-10-1ea4v-900.webp)

The basic side dishes are perilla leaves, bean sprouts, and radish. Cheonsachae (glass noodle-like radish strands) comes with the sauce too. Since octopus is a spicy dish, these are exactly the right things to wrap it with.

## Hot-plate jjusam: octopus and beef brisket combo

And here comes the hot-plate jjusam!! Red octopus and beef brisket combo 🤍💛 With rice cakes mixed in the middle, it looks generous from the start haha. There was a ton of beef brisket too, so it was great to pick up together with the octopus!!

The staff kept cooking and checking on it like this!!

It's getting more and more violently good-looking!

![Jjusam and rice cakes cooking on the hot plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-13-xbwh8-893.webp)

And another free serving,,, isn't this too generous??

![Free steamed egg served as a complimentary side](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-14-44pn7-900.webp)

![Bowl of puffed-up free steamed egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-15-1mf73-900.webp)

The free steamed egg was so fluffy too. Full of egg flavor!!🤤 One bite of octopus, one bite of steamed egg — paradise.

> Is this really a ₩30,000-for-two table?!!! I'm now a Jju Baksa regular

![Hot-plate jjusam with deeply absorbed seasoning](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-16-1srda-900.webp)

As it cooks, the beef brisket fat mixes with the octopus sauce, so the seasoning gets deeper than at first. The ratio of octopus to beef brisket was perfect too, so you can wrap them together all the way to the end.

![Close-up of plump webfoot octopus](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-17-1olu0-900.webp)

The octopus was so plump and just pure deliciousness,,, I usually find buldak spicy, but this spice level was totally fine for me?

![Octopus and beef brisket placed on perilla leaf and radish](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-18-9glz5-900.webp)

### Wrap combinations

I tried the combinations from the how-to-eat instructions exactly as shown. Perilla leaf + radish + octopus + beef brisket — delicious even with just this

![Octopus wrap with added bean sprouts](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-19-1lxds-900.webp)

Adding bean sprouts too makes it even better

![Octopus wrap with cheonsachae added on top](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-20-1atot-899.webp)

And adding cheonsachae on top makes it even more more more more delicious.

![Kimchi and flying fish roe fried rice being spread on the hot plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-21-znwcl-900.webp)

## Finishing with cheese fried rice

The finish is obviously fried rice ‼️ With seaweed flakes, kimchi, and flying fish roe mixed in, fried broadly on the hot plate — if you don't eat this part, it doesn't feel finished haha. The staff stir it up expertly 🤍

![Hot-plate fried rice topped with cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice/jjubaksa-magok-jjuusam-cheese-fried-rice-22-1pvhr-899.webp)

Add cheese on top and no more explanation needed, right? I scraped up even the crispy bits stuck to the hot plate.

## Summary

- ✔️ Easy walk from Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station
- ✔️ Hot-plate jjusam combines octopus and beef brisket
- ✔️ Free extras galore
- ✔️ Lunch set includes even the fried rice
- ✔️ The cheese fried rice finish is a must ‼️

For me, the combo of octopus + beef brisket + cheonsachae wrapped in perilla leaf was the best, and finishing with the cheese fried rice made it perfect. I'll definitely be back 💛🤍 Highly recommend this webfoot octopus spot near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station.
