## A charcoal-grill restaurant my family found in Junggye-dong

Today, I went to Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch with my family for some delicious meat 🤍 After one visit, it became somewhere I’d want to come back to eat at again!

Junggye Gogi Party was about a 10-minute walk from Eunhaeng Sageori. It was also around seven minutes by car from Junggye Station and Nowon Station, so it was easy enough to visit by car. There was parking in front of the restaurant too, which made it convenient!

They also offered weekday lunch specials! If you visit at weekday lunchtime, it may be worth checking the menu before ordering~

There was a Catchtable waiting-list station in front of the entrance. If you arrive during a busy time, you can use Catchtable to register for the wait, so keep that in mind!

## A spacious dining room and easy ordering for groups

![Spacious tables inside the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party-04-161ti-900.webp)

There were plenty of tables inside, so it looked great for visiting with a group. It seemed comfortable not only for family meals, but also for get-togethers with friends or company dinners!

## Choosing beef and pork together

![Beef and pork menu](https://img.superchart.com/images/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party-05-1xe9q-900.webp)

The menu had a wide range of meat, from pork to beef 😊 Since it wasn’t limited to just one type, you could choose according to your preferences, and they also had Korean beef yukhoe (seasoned raw beef), which looked like a nice accompaniment to the grilled meat!

![Tablet ordering screen at the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party-06-zzmvb-900.webp)

Each table had its own tablet, making it easy to browse and order from the menu. The tablet also showed dining instructions, so I read through them before choosing what I wanted. It was convenient to order right from the table without having to call a staff member!

- Premium Set
- Iberico Assortment
- Beef doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew)
- Steamed rice

There were also instructions on the wall for grilling the meat deliciously, so I read through them before getting started. It was helpful because first-time visitors can refer to them to see how to grill the meat!

![Wall guide explaining how to grill meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party-08-1patc-900.webp)

Three separate salts for dipping the meat were set out on the table too 😋 There was perilla-leaf salt, Himalayan salt, and curry salt, so you could choose according to your taste! Even with the same meat, the flavor changed a little depending on the salt, and it was fun trying them one by one, haha.

There was a varied selection of banchan (Korean side dishes) that went nicely with the meat as well. On my individual plate, I put a little of each of the perilla-leaf, Himalayan, and curry salts, along with horseradish, wasabi, and shiitake wasabi 🤍

Extra side dishes and anything else we needed were available at the self bar. It was nice to be able to help ourselves whenever we wanted more of the basic sides! There was also sikhye (sweet rice punch) beside the self bar. A sweet glass of sikhye sounded perfect for cleansing the palate after all that meat, haha.

Then the charcoal was brought to our table, and we were all set to start grilling in earnest.

## The Premium Set: sirloin, salchisal, and emperor beef rib meat

The Premium Set came out first 🥩✨ It was made up of beef, and we could try three cuts at once: sirloin, salchisal (beef chuck flap), and emperor beef rib meat! The bright-red meat had different marbling and grain depending on the cut, so it looked fresh just at a glance.

We started by putting the sirloin on the charcoal. Once it had cooked to a certain point, we cut it into easy-to-eat pieces. Seeing the cross-section of the thick sirloin after it was sliced into bite-size pieces made it look even more appetizing 😋 Since it was beef, I cooked it until it still had a faint pink center rather than cooking it too dry. The outside was nicely browned on the grill while the inside was still juicy—it looked so delicious. I tried it when it looked just right, without overcooking it!

For the first bite, I tried it with just a little salt and no other side dishes, and it was delicious because I could taste the meat itself so cleanly ✨ The sirloin’s distinctive nutty flavor came through nicely, and it was tender rather than tough!

Next, we put the salchisal on the charcoal. I loved how tender it was when I bit into it, with a juicy feel inside the meat. The charcoal-grilled exterior had a slight chew, while the inside was soft, so it wasn’t tough and was easy to eat. Its characteristic marbling brought out a rich nuttiness the more I chewed, and the beef flavor really came through too!

We put the emperor beef rib meat on the charcoal too. Once browned, it had a subtle charcoal aroma on the outside that made it look appetizing, and when I tried a bite, it was tender and juicy. It had a little chew without being tough, and its nutty flavor built as I chewed. It had a different charm from the sirloin and salchisal we’d had before, haha. The meat’s own rich flavor stood out especially well, so I really enjoyed it!

## Alternating between Iberico flower neck and pork jowl

After finishing the beef, we added the Iberico Assortment, which was pork. It included two servings of Iberico flower neck and one serving of Iberico pork jowl! As soon as I saw it, the quality somehow looked different from pork I’d usually seen at other barbecue restaurants. The color itself looked great, giving it a fresh and appetizing appearance 🥩✨ Flower neck and pork jowl each have different textures and flavors, so it seemed fun to grill and alternate between the two!

![Iberico flower neck and pork jowl assortment](https://img.superchart.com/images/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party-19-1pifv-900.webp)

![The additional Iberico Assortment order](https://img.superchart.com/images/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party-20-12us0-900.webp)

We started with the Iberico flower neck on the charcoal. As soon as the thick slices hit the grill, they began sizzling, and the nutty aroma rising from the meat made me want to try it quickly 😋 Its rich, distinctly porky flavor seemed like it would go beautifully with the charcoal, so I grilled it up nicely!

Once the flower neck was golden and cooked through, I tried it dipped in the salted seafood sauce that came with it. It was nutty and delicious on its own, but a dip in the sauce added saltiness and savoriness for another layer of flavor, haha. Pork and the sauce worked better together than I expected, so I kept dipping it! The nuttiness of charcoal-grilled flower neck plus the savory sauce was truly delicious.

I also sprinkled a little ground black pepper over the grilled meat. I’d heard that pepper brings out the flavor of grilled meat, so I gave it a few shakes too! Its subtle aroma seemed to lift the meat’s nutty flavor even more, haha. If you like pepper, I recommend trying it this way too!

![Grilled Iberico flower neck with pepper](https://img.superchart.com/images/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party-21-15uto-900.webp)

Here’s a piece of nicely grilled Iberico flower neck 😊 One bite showed how thick it was, with a proper satisfying chew, and its nutty flavor grew richer the more I chewed, haha. Because it was grilled over charcoal, it had a subtle smoky aroma that made the pork’s nuttiness come through even more strongly. With a touch of pepper, the flavor became even more vivid, and I enjoyed it so much!

![A piece of Iberico flower neck grilled over charcoal](https://img.superchart.com/images/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party/nowon-charcoal-ibe-rico-beef-party-22-8odtt-900.webp)

This time, I placed well-grilled flower neck on myeonginamul (pickled wild garlic leaves), then added horseradish and wasabi. The gentle aroma and tanginess of the myeonginamul balanced the meat’s richness, while the horseradish and wasabi added a pleasantly sharp kick, and the combination worked amazingly well ✨ It gave me several flavors at once rather than just meat alone, making it a different way to enjoy it. It was especially delicious because it tasted clean without becoming greasy!

We grilled the Iberico pork jowl too 🔥 One bite of the golden-brown pork jowl had such an appealing crisp-chewy, springy texture. It had just enough fat that it wasn’t dry and stayed moist, while its gentle meaty flavor emerged as I chewed, making it delicious, haha. Its chewy texture was different from the flower neck, so alternating between them kept the meal from becoming repetitive and made it really enjoyable!

## Beef doenjang stew after the meat

We also ordered beef doenjang-jjigae as our meal dish. When the bubbling stew arrived, I liked that it had more meat in it than I expected. It was generously filled with beef, tofu, and vegetables, so it was perfect with rice! The hearty doenjang flavor was joined by the depth from the beef, making the broth delicious too, and spoonfuls of hot stew were a great match for a meal after the grilled meat 😋

Junggye Gogi Party had a wide variety of meat and served generous portions, so I was very satisfied with it as a family meal 🤍 We enjoyed everything from beef to Iberico pork, and it’s somewhere I’d like to return to the next time I’m craving grilled meat.
