## In short

Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a pork cutlet restaurant in the Mokdong alley area of Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. On a weekend drive with her husband, the writer ordered the chi-deung katsu (cheese cutlet 100g + loin cutlet 200g, 21,500 won) on its own plus a spicy hwa-udon, and the loin cutlet, fried to order and served in 10 minutes, tasted far richer with truffle oil and wasabi from the self-serve bar. One cutlet plate and one side was exactly the right amount for two at Kkot Gatsu.

My husband and I went for a weekend drive out to Dongtan and stopped by Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch, a real pork cutlet gem I'd wanted to try for ages! From the meat quality to the side udon to the tasteful interior, nothing was missing — we were both super satisfied, so let me jump straight into the review ෆ

## How to get to Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch, and where to park

![Exterior of Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch in the Mokdong alley area of Dongtan](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-02-1s6cr-900.webp)

This Dongtan favorite sits in a quiet alley in Mokdong, Dongtan, so I just typed it into the navigator and found it easily. There's parking space right in front of the restaurant, and roadside parking nearby was easy too, which was nice.

## Wait time, interior and what's on the self-serve bar at Kkot Gatsu

![Tableing remote queue kiosk at the entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-03-18asf-900.webp)

Right at the entrance, just as you'd expect from a popular spot, there was a Tableing remote queue kiosk set up! We happened to arrive at a good time and got in with no wait, but weekend peak hours do tend to have a line, so it's worth checking the Tableing app before you go haha.

![Nature video projected on the restaurant wall](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-04-1qnom-900.webp)

What caught my eye right away was a soothing nature video projected onto the wall! Combined with the soft lighting and wood-tone tables, it had such a cozy, emotional atmosphere — I loved it!

On one side there was a neatly arranged self-serve bar. Beyond the rice and soup dishware, scissors, and tongs, there were house-made pickles, dried radish strips, wasabi, lemon salt, salad dressing, and even truffle oil all set out for free use — you could really feel the owner's thoughtful touch.

There were even take-home containers for leftovers, which seems great for families with kids who often have food left over haha.

You settle into a seat and check the menu, right? Each table has a paper menu, so you just look it over and order with the staff. In the middle of it there was also a Naver receipt review event going on — apparently photo reviews get you a free cheese ball or a beer, so this is definitely worth joining!!! 💜

## Kkot Gatsu menu: ordering the chi-deung katsu at 21,500 won

![Kkot Gatsu brand intro about the 10-day aging meaning](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-10-nstwb-676.webp)

Turns out the name Kkot Gatsu (꽃가츠) means a flavor that 'blooms' in your mouth — the meat is aged for 10 days so the juices 'bloom.' That aging period is notoriously tricky to get right, so seeing the owner's philosophy spelled out like this made me feel how serious they are about making a really good pork cutlet!

![Udon menu listing on the Kkot Gatsu menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-15-12wa7-900.webp)

![Drinks and alcohol menu at Kkot Gatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-16-91ufd-900.webp)

Looking over the menu, it was full of options, from single cutlet dishes to cutlet sets that come with a half bowl of udon. There was also a helpful note explaining that since they only use fresh, never-frozen meat, the color can look bright pink-red due to myoglobin! We ordered one chi-deung katsu (cheese cutlet 100g + loin cutlet 200g, ₩21,500), which lets you enjoy two flavors at once, plus the hwa-udon (spicy version) with its appealing spicy broth.

![Table set up after ordering](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-17-1myz5-900.webp)

Since the cutlets are fried fresh after you order, we waited about 10 minutes, and then the mouthwatering dishes made their grand entrance!!

![Pork cutlet spread with mini rice, soup, and cabbage salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-18-1buzr-900.webp)

The visuals were totally my type, be still my heart — ordering a cutlet comes with a neat little spread of mini rice, soup, cabbage salad, salt, wasabi, and cutlet sauce, all beautifully arranged. So clean and lovely haha.

### Hwa-udon: the spicy broth that cuts through the fried cutlet

The udon comes in two versions, spicy (hwa) and mild (su), and I ordered the spicy one — a fiery red broth piled with fried tofu skin, crown daisy, and thinly sliced meat garnish!

![Spicy hwa-udon topped with fried tofu skin and crown daisy](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-19-18xb3-900.webp)

The chewy, plump udon noodles soaked up a deeply smoky, spicy broth, and taking a bite in between cutlet bites was the perfect kick that washed away all the greasiness.

![Chi-deung katsu served on a tray](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-21-19nw6-900.webp)

### Chi-deung katsu: cheese cutlet 100g plus loin cutlet 200g

The chi-deung katsu comes out on a tray so the breading doesn't get soggy. With 100g of cheese cutlet and 200g of loin cutlet, the portion is generous — for two people, this dish plus one side seemed like just the right amount haha. The cheese cutlet was packed edge to edge with natural mozzarella that stretched endlessly with each pull, absolutely the ultimate in nuttiness — honestly better than the famous cheese cutlet chain everyone raves about 💚

![Stretchy mozzarella cheese cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-22-1amnk-900.webp)

![Loin cutlet with a bright pink-red cross-section](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-23-1wuy9-900.webp)

The loin cutlet passed the test just from its bright pink-red color alone!!! The first bite burst with juicy tenderness while the outside stayed perfectly crisp — amazing texture. I first dipped it in salt to enjoy the meat's own clean flavor, then added a little truffle oil from the self-serve bar with some wasabi on top, and the flavor really came alive — it was seriously delicious.

![Candy placed next to the counter](https://img.superchart.com/images/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon/kkotgatsu-dongtan-chideung-katsu-hwaudon-24-zwm45-900.webp)

Lastly, while paying at the counter, I noticed the candy sitting there — not the usual cheap kind, but a nicer quality candy, which was a nice touch!

## Verdict: is Kkot Gatsu in Dongtan Mokdong worth a date-day drive?

The nutty, crispy cheese-loin katsu paired with the fiery hwa-udon is a combo I'd recommend without hesitation! With a self-serve bar where you can customize everything from truffle oil to lemon salt, friendly service, and an interior with real character, this place holds up perfectly as a date spot too. If you're near Dongtan Mokdong looking for a can't-miss pork cutlet restaurant, definitely stop by Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch.
