When you're out traveling around Jeju, sometimes you just need a lunch box you can eat comfortably back at your accommodation or enjoy outdoors, right? I heard there's a super hot spot in Jeju right now — great value AND great quality!! — a premium lunch box specialist, so I went to pick some up for takeout!

It's 'Jejju Donghong Branch,' located in Donghong-dong, Seogwipo, Jeju. Turns out they have quite a few chain locations all over Jeju. From thick, fresh-feeling sushi to smoky-charred baby octopus to crispy fried items, here's my honest takeout review of this representative premium lunch box spot in Seogwipo.

## Jejju Donghong Branch hours and parking

Jejju Donghong Branch is open daily from 10:30 to 23:00, with last order at 21:30. For parking, you can use the public parking lot directly across from the shop.

Most people rent a car when traveling around Jeju, right? Wherever you go, it's often a hassle if there's no decent parking. But Jejju Donghong Branch has a big public parking lot right across the street, so parking was really convenient. It was the perfect spot to park quickly, grab my order, and head out with total peace of mind.

## A lunch box shop that feels like a Japanese restaurant

Even though Jejju Donghong Branch does a lot of takeout and delivery, the exterior is clean, pleasant, and upscale-looking from the outside. It looks more like a fancy Japanese restaurant than a lunch box shop.

Stepping inside, the warm, clean wood-toned interior really stood out, like walking into a proper high-end Japanese restaurant. Honestly, I had no idea the place would look this nice — the atmosphere and the space were so pretty that if my schedule had allowed, I would have loved to eat there.

Above all, it has an open kitchen layout so you can watch the cooking process directly, and it was SO clean. The hygiene management was flawless, so I could eat with complete peace of mind!!

Jejju has been designated a fair-price shop, so the prices are very reasonable. You genuinely think, 'this quality for this price?!' haha. The speakers fit the interior perfectly too, and they even have clean baby chairs available.

## Did the takeout packaging survive the ride to our hotel?

It was packed so neatly that nothing leaked at all on the way to the accommodation, and the shape held perfectly. If the food's shape gets wrecked before you even eat it, it kills your appetite — but they packed everything really tightly and carefully!

## What's inside the 15,800 won Jejju lunch box, the best seller

Living up to its status as the best-selling item, the Jejju lunch box drew gasps with its generous composition and big, striking presentation! Packed with thick sushi, spicy octopus, and a full lineup of fried items, it felt totally satisfying. Beyond the main items, it came loaded with fresh wasabi, pickled radish, pickled ginger, side dishes, and even soup — it would honestly make a great catered lunch box for a group event too. It felt like a lunch box that made you feel pampered.

Living up to being from a sushi specialist, the salmon sushi and shrimp sushi had thick neta, and even though I ate it a while after packing, it still felt fresh. Also, the rice portion in the sushi was on the generous side, so just a few pieces filled me up.

The fried items included one fish cutlet and two fried shrimp. Even after some time had passed since packing, the crispiness held up well. In particular, the fish cutlet — which I hadn't had in a while — was savory and tender, and really satisfying.

The octopus rice bowl portion was pretty generous. The stir-fried baby octopus had a proper smoky char, and the spiciness was just right, not overwhelming, so even people who can't handle spicy food much could enjoy it well. The smoky flavor was so on point it earns a thumbs up all on its own.

## Are the two torch-seared sushi and the egg sushi worth adding?

For the grilled sushi, they sear the surface golden with a torch. You can't miss a fire show like that, right? I grabbed my camera right away and shot it haha. How could it not taste smoky after that~~~

The grilled sushi came pre-brushed with teriyaki sauce, so I didn't need any soy sauce on the side. The gentle smoky note combined with the savory fattiness and the special teriyaki sauce made for a melt-in-your-mouth texture the moment it hit my mouth — pure art.

The shrimp sushi had a springy texture too, sitting somewhere between raw shrimp and grilled shrimp, so I got to enjoy a range of different flavors. The salmon was truly buttery-soft, disappearing the instant it hit my mouth! I usually prefer raw salmon, but grilled salmon has completely won me over. The egg sushi had this fluffy, sweet egg that was so charming — it's a flavor kids will absolutely love. If you like grilled sushi, definitely add it on~!
