## In short

Balgil is a cooking bar in Dongjak, Seoul, near Sadang Station’s restaurant alley. I stopped by for a second round and loved the tangy, crispy chili yuringi and udon that was perfect for drinking the broth. Verdict: a great-value pick for dates or group gatherings.

## An easy-to-find bar in Sadang Station’s restaurant alley

## From terrace seats to tables for groups

There are terrace seats and quite a few seats indoors too, so it had more seating than I expected from a Sadang Station bar! For walk-ins, a group of around four would be ideal. They also take group reservations!

You order from the tablet at each table while looking at menu photos. There were lots of dishes that would be great for a first round too, like yuk sashimi (beef sashimi), gopdoritang (spicy chicken, tripe, and potato stew), and pollack roe shrimp cream udon. I came for a second round, so I ordered fairly simply!

Ah, the camera flare was so bad that I ended up placing the exterior shot a little farther down..^^.. The sign was super visible too, so it was easy to find.

Overall, the menu was affordable and felt like good value for Sadang Station, so if you’re looking for a bar for a group around Sadang Station, I think booking ahead would be perfect.

The complimentary snack was crackers, and I was so happy to see these again after such a long time. Also, the smell of the food here is incredible. I visited around 11 p.m., and everyone was still eating mains, which I thought was interesting—then I smelled the food and totally got it.

And something I found interesting! You can request things you need through the tablet too, and they even had an ice bucket! If you order gopdoritang or nabe (Japanese-style hot pot), ask for one and keep your drinks chilled!

The chairs had space inside for your belongings too, which was convenient, and there were.. lots of people on dates inside. Why is everyone having their Sadang Station date here?

The place stayed full the whole time, so I couldn’t take interior photos, but one table finally left and I snapped this. They’re basically four-person tables, and they aren’t narrow either, so I recommend it for anyone looking for a group bar in Sadang too.. It’s honestly rare to find a Sadang bar where the table is still roomy after ordering two dishes..

## Crispy chili yuringi ordered for a second round

Crispy chili yuringi (₩23,900): We were comfortably full, but wanted something tangy with a bit to chew on, so we ordered it. To give you the conclusion first: I recommend it!

The sauce was tangy and delicious, and above all, the batter was seriously so crispy.. The chicken inside was moist and tender with no gamey smell, so I kept reaching for it. I devoured it with Cheongyang chili peppers on top.

## Drinking up old-fashioned udon broth on the terrace

Old-fashioned udon (₩9,900): I was way too full after the yuringi, but sitting on the terrace made me crave broth, so I asked for just half or one-third of the noodles, plus lots of broth and spicy seasoning, and got this udon.. Hahahahahaha. Thanks to that, I got to drink up lots of broth.

It was the kind of udon where you could take a sip of broth and a sip of soju, so you could drink and cure your hangover at the same time. The noodles were springy and not overcooked, so I kept reaching for them despite being full..

Wrapping up with a photo of the udon bowl looking empty because I kept ladling out the broth.. The place was really packed, and I immediately understood why! It’s a Sadang Station spot with great value snacks, plenty of seats, and enough space between tables to cover everything from Sadang Station dates to group work dinners, so everyone should check it out!
