## In short

Hunta Euljiro is a Japanese restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul, serving premium black pork cutlets. The limited Sango Roskatsu stood out for its thick, juicy meat, thin crisp crust, green-onion kimchi, and Gaban pepper. Verdict: an excellent spot for a solo pork cutlet meal worth revisiting.

I had an errand in Euljiro and, when I was done, found myself looking for somewhere to eat alone. After debating what to have, I wanted a properly good pork cutlet, so I went to Hunta. Back when my office was in Euljiro, I tried a pork cutlet place that was famous for its waitlist. That one was delicious too, but Hunta suited my taste so perfectly that it ranks among the best pork cutlets I’ve had—I immediately saved it to my favorite-restaurants list 😚

## Sango Roskatsu, chosen because I was curious about pork jowl

Hunta uses premium black pork and says it puts care into aging and frying it to highlight the distinct richness of the fat and texture of the lean meat in each cut.

*Sango Roskatsu*

There were plenty of options, including roskatsu, hirekatsu, and chicken katsu, but I recently had a delicious boiled-pork dish made with pork jowl, so I chose the limited-quantity Sango Roskatsu. It is a tonkatsu made with loin from pork jowl, a cut that comes in an extremely small amount from each pig, which made me even more curious.

## The textbook pork cutlet I love

![Crisp Sango Roskatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/euljiro-hunta-sangro-katsu-honbap/euljiro-hunta-sangro-katsu-honbap-05-x9kcx-966.webp)

My favorite pork cutlets have thick meat with a thin, crisp coating. Rather than something greasy and soggy, I love katsu that is clean-tasting and fried crisp, and Hunta was exactly my style. The thick premium black pork stayed juicy, while the fatty parts delivered an instant nutty richness. The coating was not thick enough to hide the flavor of the meat, either. When I eat something delicious, I tend to sway without realizing it or tap my feet, and that day I was fully in foot-tapping mode. I felt like I had truly found a great Euljiro pork cutlet spot 👀

## Green-onion kimchi is my number one; Gaban pepper is number two

There was a guide on the table explaining how to enjoy Hunta’s katsu even more deliciously.

Celtic lake salt, pork cutlet sauce, mustard, and wasabi come with the meal, while Gaban pepper and shichimi (Japanese seven-spice seasoning) are set out on the table.

A staff member told me that Gaban pepper pairs well with the Sango Roskatsu. I really recommend this combination 👍👍 The deep, subtle pepper aroma seemed to bring out the nutty richness of the premium black pork even more.

Still, my top pick was the house-made green-onion kimchi! Its savory seasoning was so good that I kept reaching for it.

The rich katsu and green-onion kimchi went so well together that I ate them together throughout the whole meal. The cabbage and its tangy sauce were really delicious too!!

## A comfortable atmosphere for eating alone

I visited just after break time ended, so I was able to eat in a relatively relaxed setting.

There may be a wait at lunchtime, so if you can adjust your schedule like I could, visiting after break time might be a good idea!

The restaurant was clean and cozy, and the staff were kind, so I did not feel at all uncomfortable dining alone.

It seemed like a great fit for anyone looking for a good Euljiro pork cutlet restaurant for solo dining. It is easy to reach from City Hall Station and Euljiro 1-ga Station, and it is close to Deoksugung Palace, so it would also make a nice meal stop after a date or an outing!

## Why it was selected among Daedonyeojido’s top 100 katsu

![Daedonyeojido top 100 katsu selection information](https://img.superchart.com/images/euljiro-hunta-sangro-katsu-honbap/euljiro-hunta-sangro-katsu-honbap-18-1bp1j-966.webp)

Hunta was selected among the nation’s top 100 katsu restaurants in Daedonyeojido, a book published by pork-cutlet influencer Donbanggu. I heard that they studied the flavors by visiting famous katsu restaurants across Japan, and after eating here, I could understand why they are so serious about katsu.

It reminded me of the tonkatsu I ate while traveling in Japan, but Hunta’s own accompaniments made it especially satisfying. Next time, I want to come back with friends and try the roskatsu, hirekatsu, and tare katsudon too!

## Final thoughts

I went in for one order of Sango Roskatsu and found an Euljiro pork cutlet restaurant that hit every one of my preferences. The thick meat, thin crisp coating, and the pairings of green-onion kimchi and Gaban pepper made this a memorable meal. The atmosphere was comfortable for solo dining, so it is great for eating alone, and I highly recommend it as a lunch spot for City Hall and Euljiro office workers! If you are looking for delicious premium black pork katsu near Deoksugung Palace or City Hall Station, Hunta is worth stopping by. I’m planning to revisit with friends next time :)
