When you take a child on an outing to Olympic Park, choosing somewhere to eat can be tricky, right? Looking for a place that a child can enjoy but that also suits grown-up tastes, I always seem to end up with a familiar choice like tonkatsu. I found a great tonkatsu spot after an Olympic Park outing with my child, so here is my lunch recommendation!

> Looking for great tonkatsu near Olympic Park? A specialist in aged meat backed by 24 years of tonkatsu know-how.

What if you visit a tonkatsu restaurant and see them tenderizing the meat themselves? Or if it has an open kitchen where you can watch the cooking? Doesn’t that just make it seem like it will taste even better?

Riae is a Japanese-style tonkatsu restaurant near Olympic Park, run on the know-how built through 24 years of studying tonkatsu.

![Riae, a specialist in aged-meat tonkatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-03-173nm-966.webp)

What especially stands out is that it uses aged Korean pork. The breading matters with tonkatsu, but in the end, the flavor and texture of the meat inside are what count, right? Riae manages the aging and cooking time differently for each cut to bring out its best qualities.

![Tonkatsu with managed aging and cooking times](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-04-1ckxv-966.webp)

The loin is prepared to reveal more meaty flavor and aroma the more you chew, while the tenderloin preserves a soft, clean texture. Having tried them, I could definitely tell the textural difference between the loin and tenderloin tonkatsu.

Being able to watch the tonkatsu being made in person made the whole preparation process feel trustworthy—and like being properly treated by a pro!

## The real meatiness of thick aged loin katsu

> A signature dish that makes this a Seongnae-dong, Olympic Park favorite! Thick aged loin katsu with seriously good meat flavor.

The key to Riae’s signature aged loin katsu is its pork loin, which is about 2.2 cm thick!

![Aged loin katsu about 2.2 cm thick](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-06-sdrpb-966.webp)

It looked quite thick too, so I think tonkatsu lovers would be drawn in by the visuals alone.

![Thick aged loin katsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-07-1yjia-966.webp)

The aged loin is fried to order, giving it a crisp exterior and a juicy interior—so good~~

The loin in particular revealed more meat aroma and flavor as I chewed, so I could really taste the meat itself.

When tonkatsu is too thick, it can sometimes be tough or greasy, but Riae carefully manages its aging and cooking time, so I finished it cleanly right to the end~

While the loin is for enjoying the meat’s richness and juices, the tenderloin was clearly softer and cleaner, so each had its own distinct charm. It even passed the taste test of my self-proclaimed tonkatsu-maniac husband! If you go after an outing with a child, they’ll surely like it too~

## One plate of tonkatsu, enjoyed with changing sauces

> The fun of getting many flavors from one tonkatsu! Switch up the sauces one by one, and the plate disappears in no time~

Usually, you dip tonkatsu into one sauce, right? But at Riae, you can enjoy it with a whole variety of sauces and accompaniments.

![Tonkatsu with assorted sauces and accompaniments](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-10-1jin9-966.webp)

You can enjoy the tonkatsu in many ways, from salt and wasabi to truffle oil and soy sauce-based dips.

First, taste the tonkatsu on its own, then try dipping it in salt or adding just a little wasabi.

![Tonkatsu enjoyed with changing sauces](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-12-qtmrs-966.webp)

As I changed the sauce one at a time, the same dish tasted slightly different each time—which is an especially nice point when eating with a child.

![Tonkatsu with assorted sauce pairings](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-13-1jsgp-966.webp)

Personally, the truffle oil was the pairing I would recommend: elegant, yet subtly harmonious!

![Tonkatsu with truffle oil](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-14-fscd9-966.webp)

The meal came neatly arranged with not only tonkatsu but also rice, jang-guk (clear soup), and salad, so it felt complete for adults or children alike.

It is not just tonkatsu either—there are cold soba noodles and curry that are easy to share. Especially for families, the menu offers plenty of choices, and everyone can eat the way they like!! Children can keep it simple, while adults can add the different sauces.

## Parking and seating that matter when dining with children

> A good place to eat after an Olympic Park outing! When you have a child with you, easy parking and roomy tables are essential too!

Olympic Park in summer-to-fall weather like this is perfect for walks and outings with children, so many people look for places to take them, right? I was also looking for somewhere comfortable for lunch after a weekend outing when I came across Riae, with its tonkatsu menu.

![Riae visited after an Olympic Park outing](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-16-1ns46-966.webp)

Above all, when dining with children, things like parking and seating matter as much as taste. Convenient parking is a must when you have a child! Riae has parking behind the restaurant and high chairs available, making it convenient for family visits. When I visited, the restaurant spaces were full, but there was a nearby alternative lot by Olympic Park, so I could visit without worrying about parking. I used that alternative lot and was there after just a short walk.

There are also bar seats for solo diners and tables for four for groups, so it works for anything from eating alone to dates and family meals.

Best of all, it is easy to pair an Olympic Park outing with a meal here, so keep it in mind when planning a weekend outing with your child!

## Riae for a family lunch after an outing

> From outings with children to family dining! If you are looking for tonkatsu near Olympic Park in Seongnae-dong, I recommend Riae~

Riae, which I tried as a lunch menu after an outing with my child, felt a little different from an ordinary tonkatsu restaurant.

![Aged tonkatsu eaten after an outing](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-19-anqpv-966.webp)

It uses aged Korean pork, cooks the loin and tenderloin to highlight each cut’s characteristics, and offers a wide variety of sauces, so you can enjoy many different combinations depending on your taste.

![A tonkatsu meal with loin and tenderloin](https://img.superchart.com/images/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae/olympic-park-family-pork-cutlet-riae-20-podxg-966.webp)
