Lately I've weirdly been craving sushi nonstop haha. Especially the kind that's sweet and hearty at the same time, like eel sushi — so that craving took me to Susi Seon Bangi Branch in Bangi-dong.

This time, instead of ordering a bunch of different things, I mostly stuck to what I personally like lol. I made eel sushi the main event and added tuna sushi (2 pieces) and egg sushi (2 pieces) on the side.

## Where is Susi Seon Bangi Branch in the Bangi-dong food alley?

Susi Seon Bangi Branch sits along the Bangi-dong restaurant alley, so it was an easy stop when I was looking for somewhere to eat nearby.

The address is 37 Olympic-ro 32-gil, 1F, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Once you go further into the alley, you'll spot the Susi Seon sign that reads 'nigiri sushi specialty shop,' so it wasn't hard to find haha.

When I visited, the sign outside said the hours were 11 AM to 10 PM, though hours can change depending on when you go, so keep that in mind. From the outside alone, it had that comfortable, old-school neighborhood sushi shop feel lol — and honestly, a place like this, rather than somewhere flashy, actually made me more excited for the food.

## Inside Susi Seon Bangi Branch: mood and menu

Walk inside and the wood-toned tables and walls catch your eye first. It was compact overall but neatly kept, and the tables weren't too cramped for eating comfortably haha.

It looked like a fine spot to eat solo and just as easy for two people ordering a few sushi items together. Looking at the menu, the sushi lineup was more varied than I expected lol — there's Today's Sushi, Special Sushi, and Build-Your-Own Sushi, plus you can add flounder, salmon, tuna, eel, king shrimp, soy-marinated shrimp, egg, and more individually. Beyond sushi, there's also sashimi rice bowl, pork cutlet, udon, and buckwheat noodles, so it works fine even if everyone in your group wants something a little different haha.

## What the eel sushi at Susi Seon tastes like

What I was most excited for this meal was, of course, the eel sushi. It came out lined up across a big wooden plate, and just visually it looked pretty delicious lol. There was a bit of julienned ginger on top of the eel, and the surface had a glossy sheen from the sauce.

Picking up a piece, the eel covered the rice generously enough that its presence was unmistakable in the first bite haha. The sweet, salty eel sauce had naturally soaked into the rice, and the eel itself was so tender there was almost no resistance when chewing.

Eating it with the ginger on top brought a slight sharp aroma right after the eel's characteristic sweetness, which cleaned up my palate lol. If you like eel sushi, this is a dish you'd be pretty satisfied with.

## Tuna sushi (2 pieces): the clean, mild pairing

Next up, tuna sushi (2 pieces). Even in photos, the tuna's color was quite vivid haha, and there was a generous amount piled on the rice, so it already looked appealing. In the mouth, you first notice the tuna's signature soft texture, and the more you chew, the more a subtle savory richness comes through lol.

If the eel sushi is sweet and rich, the tuna sushi is relatively light, so it was nice to alternate between the two.

## Egg sushi (2 pieces) and the sides served with it

And of course, egg sushi (2 pieces) — an essential haha. It had that familiar look: thick rolled egg sitting on rice, wrapped in the middle with a strip of seaweed.

![Egg sushi (2 pieces) wrapped with seaweed](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangidong-eel-sushi-susiseon/bangidong-eel-sushi-susiseon-21-ps3yg-966.webp)

The egg layers were tightly stacked, so it looked pretty fluffy lol. Tasting it, it was soft and mildly sweet, and it felt like it reset my palate after the eel and tuna. Personally, I always make sure to include one egg sushi whenever I eat sushi, and this day confirmed once again that it was worth ordering haha.

The table also came with the usual sides — pickled radish (rakkyo), danmuji (pickled daikon), and pickled ginger. After eating something rich like eel sushi, popping a piece of rakkyo cleared my palate and kept me reaching for more lol.

Having warm broth alongside made the meal noticeably more filling than just eating sushi on its own. I also liked that you can add as many individual sushi pieces as you want. Ordering a big set from the start is fine too, but there's real fun in picking your favorites and adding them a few pieces at a time.

This day, I stuck to exactly what I like — eel sushi as the centerpiece with tuna and egg alongside — and it was a highly satisfying meal lol. A good place to remember in Bangi-dong when you want a casual, no-fuss sushi meal.

If you especially like sweet, tender eel sushi, give it a try haha. Next time I visit, I'm planning to add flounder, salmon, and king shrimp for a bit more variety.
