Once again, after wrapping up work today, I wandered around getting hungrier and hungrier, hunting for somewhere to eat. Today's spot is Hekbap, a Kkachisan Station favorite where you can get everything from rice bowls to ramen to pork cutlets. Let's get into the review right away.

## Solo seating and the atmosphere

The interior overall is clean and pleasant. There's a large window on one side of the restaurant so the outside is fully visible, giving the whole place an open feel. It was comfortable to eat without any stuffy feeling, haha. There are plenty of tables, and in particular there's a nice range from single seats great for solo dining to tables for groups eating together.

Every table has a phone stand, which looked perfect for solo diners who want to watch their phone comfortably while eating. It's always a bit awkward figuring out where to put your phone when eating alone, so this was a nice touch, haha.

The menu had a wide variety of filling options — rice bowls, ramen, pork cutlets, soba and more. Just within the rice bowls there were choices ranging from meat to salmon, so it seemed easy to pick according to your taste. If just the main dish isn't enough, they also offer set menu options for a heartier meal — recommended!

These days I can't really eat much meat, so I ordered the cube steak rice bowl set to fill up, haha. There's a tip written next to the bowl for how to eat it the tastiest way, so check that out before you dig in — I actually missed it and just ate without reading it (but it was still delicious, haha).

## Cube steak rice bowl set

Ta-da, here's what I ordered! It's a substantial spread centered on the main rice bowl, along with hot mini udon, karaage, radish kimchi, pickled radish, and even a rice cake dessert. Rather than just the main dish alone, having all these varied sides made it feel like a really filling meal.

The tip for eating it deliciously is: cut it into bite-sized pieces and eat the rice together with the toppings, adding a bit of wasabi to taste if you like (simple, right? haha).

The meat came in generous bite-sized chunks! The savory-sweet sauce was soaked well into the meat, so it was fine even without adding wasabi.

Eaten together with the rice, the savory-sweet sauce, already seasoned into the meat, seeps moistly into the rice grains, making the rice a perfect match for the meat's rich flavor. Especially since the meat pieces are so big, putting one on each spoonful of rice makes for an incredibly satisfying, full-mouth bite, haha.

### Karaage

Next up, karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken). The outside is fried crispy while the inside stays moist and tender. You get crunchy batter with juicy chicken inside, making it a perfect side dish. Eating it together with the cabbage underneath adds a refreshing crunch that really boosts your appetite.

### Mini udon and dessert rice cake

The mini udon that came with it had a hot, clean broth — good stuff.

For dessert, rice cake! Sweet and perfectly chewy — great way to finish the meal, haha.

## Why I'd come back here to eat alone

Overall, from the main dish to the sides to dessert, everything was put together generously, making for a satisfying meal. The meat pieces were big and gave a really great eating experience. Being able to have karaage and mini udon alongside made it feel much more filling than just one dish alone, haha.

Above all, with an atmosphere comfortable for solo dining and phone stands ready at every table, this seems like a great pick for anyone looking for a place to eat alone near Kkachisan Station. If you're searching for a Kkachisan Station restaurant or a Kkachisan restaurant, why not give Hekbap Kkachisan Branch a try?
