I went to see Odyssey at the Sopung CGV IMAX near Sangdong station in Bucheon, and afterward stopped by a samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) restaurant that turned out to be a real hidden gem. I wasn't expecting much but ended up having such a good day haha. Let me introduce it!

## Where is Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch, and when is it open?

Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch is at 87 Jomaru-ro, 2nd floor, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, open daily 11:00–21:00, and parking is available. I heard it was near Sopung CGV so I strolled over — about a 10-minute walk — and found it on the 2nd floor of the Neulpureun Shopping Center.

It's easy to find since it's on the 2nd floor of the No Brand building.

On the way up to the 2nd floor, there was even a customer rest area set up on the 1st floor..!! I thought, wow, this place must be so popular and delicious that they need a rest area, and my expectations shot up haha.

## Private rooms and baby chairs: is Oi Samgyetang good for family gatherings?

Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch's dining room is really spacious, with private rooms on both sides and even baby chairs, so it's a great spot to bring anyone from babies to grandparents. I'd definitely recommend it as a family gathering spot.

I checked out the restaurant's history on display — whoa, they've been running since 1997, so that's already 30 years! A samgyetang restaurant that's kept going for 30 years straight is impressive on its own, but honestly, once I saw the ginseng wine bottles displayed next to it, I felt like that explained everything about this place haha. Wherever you see a lot of homemade infused liquor lined up, you know it's a good restaurant.

All the chicken and duck used in the samgyetang, baeksuk, dak-dori-tang, and duck roast are domestic, and even the chili powder and rice are domestic — knowing Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch uses trustworthy ingredients made it even more reassuring.

The basic side dishes were cucumber, peppers, pickled onion, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), and danmuji (pickled radish) salad. Maybe they give cucumber because it's called Oi Samgyetang (oi means cucumber)? I was so hungry I just munched on the cucumber before the samgyetang even arrived, haha.

## Herbal mung bean samgyetang, 18,000 won: how does it taste?

What I ordered at Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch was the herbal mung bean samgyetang for ₩18,000.

The herbal mung bean samgyetang came out bubbling and boiling — the visual was insane. Seeing that thick, rich broth made my mouth water. It looked way too hot to eat right away, so I had a cup of ginseng wine first, hehe. The ginseng wine is served free on request, and even though it's complimentary, they give a decent amount!

It comes out in a cute little dokuri bottle, and the cups are pretty too, which put me in a good mood haha.

A yellow cup of ginseng wine, poured out to six cups total! If you go with two people, that's three toasts each — who gives away this much for free?! Haha, I even asked the owner "is this really free?" — such generous hospitality.

After enjoying the aroma of one cup of ginseng wine, I fished the chicken out of the samgyetang.

The meat was soft too — I tried picking up the thigh meat with the bone in, and it came right off, that's how well-cooked this Bucheon samgyetang restaurant's chicken was.

Once I picked off all the samgyetang meat, it was time for the porridge sitting underneath! The broth was definitely rich and thick thanks to the mung beans. I prefer this kind of thick broth over a thin one, so it was totally my type.

### What mung beans are good for

I looked it up and mung beans are apparently great for flushing out toxins and waste from the body, and they're also excellent at reducing heat! It tasted nutty too, so it felt like I was getting healthier with every bite — I couldn't stop eating 😆

Taking a bite of soft chicken meat topped with the thick mung bean porridge felt like proper nourishment,,💓 I scraped up every last drop of broth before I left. The portion was pretty huge — I thought my stomach would burst!!!

## Is Oi Samgyetang Bucheon worth a second visit?

A day I walked in with no expectations and discovered a genuine gem. I don't usually eat samgyetang outside much, but this meal at Oi Samgyetang was satisfying enough that I want to go back. If you're looking for a family gathering spot in Bucheon or a restaurant near Sangdong station, I highly recommend Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch, which truly shows the worth of its 30-year tradition.
