## Saetgang Station izakaya for two: Set 4 at Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch

I was looking for a good izakaya (Japanese-style pub) near Saetgang Station in Yeouido for two people, and ended up at Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch (로바다야끼소담 여의도점). We ordered Set 4 for two, which is small sashimi plus mixed skewers, for ₩44,000. We added a 750ml beer too.

It's a pub right in the middle of Yeouido, so I was a little worried about prices, but there was a set made for two and I was happier than I expected. Conclusion first: if you're going as a pair, I'd happily recommend this set.

## What's the atmosphere like at Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch?

The exterior is done in wood tones, so you feel the Japanese-restaurant vibe from the entrance. It's a calm Yeouido izakaya feel rather than a flashy pub, which made a good first impression.

Inside, there's a bar-table-style space in the middle, and it pretty much carries the whole mood of the place. You can see fresh fish and skewer ingredients, and the staff grilling and preparing food right there, so it feels like a little stage.

If you want a drink with some atmosphere rather than somewhere that's just loud, this seemed like a good fit. At the time of my visit I also saw private rooms and partitioned seats, which looked nice for a cozy chat for two.

## What's in Set 4 (small sashimi + mixed skewers)?

We chose Set 4 at Robadayakki Sodam. Sashimi and mixed skewers come together, which is perfect when you want raw fish and also something warm off the grill.

The sashimi reportedly comes with tuna, flounder, rockfish, salmon, John Dory and mullet. The fish can change depending on the season and supply, though, so it's best to check when you visit.

When two people go to an izakaya, ordering lots of dishes feels like too much, but ordering just one feels a bit lacking, right? Set 4 brings sashimi and skewers together, so it felt quite generous. If you're near Yeouido Station and can't decide what to order for two, I think this set is a safe, satisfying choice.

## How was the sashimi?

The sashimi in Set 4 was better than I expected. It came first on one neatly arranged plate, with salmon, white fish, octopus, flying fish roe, lemon, radish sprouts and wasabi, so it looked tidy too.

What I liked most was the texture. It wasn't thin and limp; each piece felt springy when I picked it up, and the white fish was clean-tasting but had a nice chew.

The salmon was soft and rich, and it went well with beer. Honestly, I assumed that with a set menu at a Yeouido izakaya the sashimi would just be a side, but the quality here was better than I thought, and that was the biggest surprise.

## The mixed skewers were wonderfully warm

The mixed skewers came on one plate, from meat skewers to ginkgo nuts to what looked like seafood skewers. If the sashimi is the cold, clean dish, the skewers keep the mood going warm.

Every skewer was cooked chewy and just right. Not dry or tough, nicely juicy, with a subtle smoky grill flavor that went really well with beer.

With only sashimi it might have felt a little lacking, but with the skewers the whole drinking flow got much better. I liked that two people can eat both sashimi and skewers without over-ordering.

## 750ml beer and the egg side dish

That day I also ordered a 750ml beer at Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch.

The majesty of 750ml is something else. An overwhelming size!! Cold sashimi, warm skewers and a chilly beer made a pretty great combo. It's good for a light drink after work in Yeouido, and the mood was fine for quietly talking over drinks with one other person.

## What I want to try next time: grilled toothfish (merogui)

The dish I definitely want to try next time at Robadayakki Sodam is the grilled toothfish (메로구이, merogui). It's not that this visit was lacking; I just now have a reason to come back.

I was curious because it's said to be Sodam's best menu item, but the sashimi and skewer set alone was filling and satisfying that day, so I put it off. If you're looking for grilled toothfish in Yeouido, it's worth checking out too. I want to come back for it myself.

## So which set should two people order?

If two of you visit Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch, I'd recommend Set 4, small sashimi plus mixed skewers. It was ₩44,000, and being able to eat both sashimi and skewers took the stress out of choosing.

The sashimi was better than expected, and the skewers each came out warm and chewy, so overall I was satisfied. I think it suits people looking for a good drinking spot near Saetgang Station, people wanting an atmospheric izakaya near Yeouido Station, and anyone after a Japanese-style izakaya in Yeouido that works for two.
