## Where is Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, Yongsan branch?

Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, Yongsan branch is a Yongsan pork cutlet spot on the first floor of an apartment shopping arcade on Baekbeom-ro. I dropped by right before my daughter's semester started, when I was taking her home and stopped across the street from our place. I'd swung by Lotte Mart to grab a few groceries first, and since the restaurant is right next door, it turned out to be a great spot to grab a quick meal after shopping.

Located just off the main road inside an apartment complex arcade, this Yongsan pork cutlet restaurant is easy to park at and easy to find.

## What the Onjeong dining room feels like for a solo lunch

With its clean interior, two- and four-person tables, and window seats looking out onto the street, this Yongsan pork cutlet restaurant is also well known as a great place for solo lunches.

At this solo-lunch-friendly Yongsan spot, there's even a thoughtful little storage space under the chairs for your bags.

The sanitized cup holder is neatly kept, and since rice refills are free, you can help yourself to as much as you need.

## Onjeong pork cutlet menu and prices

*Onjeong's pork cutlet menu and prices*

Onjeong Donkatsu has a wide range of dishes—various pork cutlets, garak guksu (thick wheat noodle soup), and soba. I ordered the classic pork cutlet (₩13,000), cheddar cheese cutlet (₩13,500), and green tangerine cold soba (₩9,000).

> Reminiscent of 90s-style old-school pork cutlets.

### Classic pork cutlet, 13,000 won

The one I was most excited about was the classic pork cutlet. I've loved crispy Japanese-style tonkatsu for a while now, but every so often I really crave the old-school Korean version.

![A plate of classic pork cutlet with sauce drizzled on top](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients-13-1vdty-650.webp)
*Bringing back memories of 80s and 90s-style pork cutlets*

Sauce is drizzled on top, so you naturally start with the crispy edges that aren't covered—two palm-sized cutlets. It comes with a dinner roll, vegetable salad, unlimited rice, soup, pickled radish, and kkakdugi.

> Cheddar cheese cutlet

### Cheddar cheese pork cutlet, 13,500 won

And then the cheddar cheese cutlet I'd ordered! I expected it to be cheesy, but I had no idea it would be this intense!

![Cheddar cheese cutlet with cheese overflowing](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients-14-1cxt2-1200.webp)

Half the dish is meat, and cheese overflowing everywhere! I even dipped the classic cutlet into the leftover cheese. Ultimate cheese flavor!

They use only Tokyo Bay pork prepared fresh that day, and manage the frying oil fresh daily—and it really showed. Oil that's even a day old usually turns fried food dark. But at Yongsan Onjeong, the oil was clean, and the cutlets came out perfectly fried without any dark residue. It really felt like a great choice for a solo lunch in Yongsan.

> Refreshing green tangerine cold soba

### Green tangerine cold buckwheat soba, 9,000 won

And then the green tangerine cold soba my daughter loves. The buckwheat noodles were thick and chewy. With the cool green tangerine mixed in, the flavor was even more tangy and refreshing.

![Green tangerine cold soba with dried seaweed flakes on icy broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients-15-1hyoi-650.webp)

Ice-cold broth topped generously with dried seaweed flakes!

## Korean-grown rice, pork and kkakdugi at Onjeong

As I ate, I noticed the rice, pork, kkakdugi, and vegetables were all Korean-grown. These days—well, in the countryside where I grow my own food, I might not notice, but honestly, using domestic ingredients in Seoul isn't easy at all! This really showed how much heart goes into their pork cutlets—no, into their food in general!

![A full spread of pork cutlet made with Korean-grown ingredients](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients-16-1t0mp-650.webp)

![Table setting with rice, soup, and kkakdugi](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients-17-fs8tx-650.webp)

![Dinner roll and pork cutlet placed together on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients/yongsan-onjeong-gyeongyangsik-domestic-ingredients-18-19qfp-650.webp)

And with the dinner roll that came alongside, I stuffed in leftover cutlet, cheese, and vegetables to make a little burger. That's the famous cutlet burger Tzuyang ate! If Tzuyang ate it, then this hungry Kim needs to eat it too!

## Why Onjeong works for solo dining in Yongsan

If you're looking for a great solo meal spot in Yongsan, I recommend Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang. The staff were perfectly friendly from the moment I walked in! Unlimited rice refills are ideal when eating alone—nothing beats a full belly of rice. And the cutlets fried in clean oil. Plus, Korean-grown kimchi and kkakdugi right in the middle of Seoul! I plan to stop by again next time I pick up my daughter. Look forward to the next review!
