## In short

Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi is a naengmyeon, stir-fried jjukkumi (baby octopus) and gukbap (rice soup) restaurant in Munmak-eup, Wonju, Gangwon, about 1-2 minutes by car from Munmak IC. The visit covered a double portion of arrowroot naengmyeon with all the dadegi (spicy seasoning paste) stirred in, a stir-fried jjukkumi spread served with muksabal (chilled acorn jelly) and side dishes, and suyuk-gukbap whose thin slices of lean pork the children finished off. The wide menu made Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi an easy family meal, though bugs seen on the floor were a letdown.

Munmak IC — the interchange I always drive past whenever I'm heading toward Sokcho, Gangwon.

I always just drove right by, but this time I heard there was a place about 1-2 minutes from Munmak IC that serves everything from naengmyeon (cold noodles) to stir-fried jjukkumi (octopus) to gukbap (soup with rice), so I stopped in. It's Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon!

It's really close to Munmak IC, so it's a great spot for a meal on the way to or from a Gangwon trip.

## How to get to Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi from Munmak IC

What I liked most was the accessibility. It's not far from Munmak IC, so you don't need to drive deep into town — you can just stop by on the way.

There's also parking space right in front of the restaurant, and baby chairs were ready, so it was a fine place to visit with kids too. For families like us traveling around Gangwon with children, that stuff actually matters a lot haha.

It's still hot out, so I didn't even have to think twice — I went to eat arrowroot naengmyeon. But while looking at the menu, my husband suddenly said,

> I kind of want the stir-fried jjukkumi too?

Haha, so what started as just going for one bowl of naengmyeon ended up with us ordering stir-fried jjukkumi and pork soup for the kids too — a pretty hearty meal.

## Arrowroot naengmyeon double portion — dump in all the dadegi, that's the answer

I ordered Singi's arrowroot naengmyeon as a double portion, with the dadegi (spicy chili sauce) requested on the side. Lately I've been suddenly craving this exact style of arrowroot naengmyeon. Forget Hamhung naengmyeon or Pyongyang naengmyeon — right now, I just want that classic Korean-style arrowroot naengmyeon flavor :)

Cool, tangy, with those distinct chewy arrowroot noodles! This time I went big and ordered the double portion.

At first I planned to add the dadegi little by little. But then — wow. Even adding it all in, it was surprisingly delicious and spicy, in a good way. Personally, I recommend dumping in all the dadegi. Adding the spicy seasoning to the cool broth really woke up my appetite.

## Stir-fried jjukkumi comes as a full spread — even with muksabal

The stir-fried jjukkumi (octopus) filled the whole table! My husband wanted it, so we ordered it, and I was honestly shocked at how properly loaded the spread was once it arrived.

It came with all sorts of side dishes plus muksabal (acorn jelly), and they gave us plenty of dipping sauce too. Munmak hospitality, maybe? Haha.

Especially that sauce that looked like mayonnaise! It was seriously delicious. I'm not sure of the exact name, but it seemed like some kind of garlic mayo. Dipping the jjukkumi in it worked surprisingly well — I kept reaching for more.

The stir-fried jjukkumi itself had great seasoning too, perfect with rice. Came for the naengmyeon alone, left having properly enjoyed jjukkumi too, thanks to my husband.

## Pork soup ordered for the kids

The biggest worry when eating out with kids is always what to order for them, so we went with Singi's suyuk-gukbap (boiled pork soup with rice). The amount of meat was way more than I expected!

What I liked most was that the meat was thinly sliced and mostly lean, not fatty. It's a style that's easy for kids to eat, so my kids ate mostly the pork and did great with it. If you're visiting with children, the pork soup seems like a solid choice.

There are adult menus like naengmyeon and stir-fried jjukkumi, plus gukbap options too, so it was great for a family visit where everyone can order what they each want.

## Looking for somewhere to eat near Munmak IC?

Overall, I liked how varied the menu was at this Munmak restaurant, Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon. Whether you're like me and want a cool naengmyeon on a hot day, want something spicy like stir-fried jjukkumi, or you're a family that wants to feed the kids gukbap, everyone can order to their own taste — that seems to be the strong point.

It's especially close to Munmak IC, so it's on a good route for anyone looking for a meal before or after a trip to Sokcho or elsewhere in Gangwon.

There was one letdown, though. The food and menu variety were satisfying overall, but I was a bit bothered by some bugs I spotted on the restaurant floor. If that part gets a little more managed and improved, the meal experience would be even better.

Still, that bowl of arrowroot naengmyeon I hadn't had in a while was pretty satisfying. If you're looking for a variety of options — naengmyeon, jjukkumi, gukbap — near Munmak IC, it's worth a stop. Especially on hot days like these, a bowl of arrowroot naengmyeon really hits the spot :)

### Three-line summary

- Just 1-2 minutes from Munmak IC — a great stop during a Gangwon trip
- Menu ranges from arrowroot naengmyeon to stir-fried jjukkumi to pork soup, good for a family meal
- Food was satisfying, but bugs on the restaurant floor could use improvement
