## In short

Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is a Korean restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi. I tried mild pork bone haejangguk with udon noodles for 10,000 won and the special pork bone soup for 14,000 won, plus refillable pickled onions and free ice cream. Verdict: a filling choice when you want both noodles and rice.

There is a great haejangguk (hangover soup) spot for sobering up in an alley off the bar street in Ingye-dong, Suwon.

As the name suggests, Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch serves seriously spicy pork bone haejangguk. It is a great Ingye-dong haejangguk restaurant for the days when you crave something spicy, need to shake off a hangover, or simply want haejangguk.

## Exterior and interior atmosphere

Just looking at the restaurant's red exterior makes the spicy warmth of the haejangguk come through.

Let's head inside. Go, go. It was early lunchtime, but there were already quite a few customers.

There were plenty of solo diners, as well as groups visiting together.

### Self-service bar and dessert

The basic side dishes are kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and pickled onions, and you can refill both at the self-service bar.

These pickled onions were seriously the star. I have no idea how many times I went back for more. I may have eaten nearly a whole onion's worth.

The self-service bar has more than side dishes—there is also an ice cream zone for dessert!!

There is a quantity limit for hot-pot orders, while haejangguk diners receive one ice cream each.

It is free ice cream, yet there are so many varieties and lots of tasty choices. Service, so good!!! There were heaps of my favorites, Bibibig and Dwaeji Bar... plus all sorts of flavors that would win over people with old-school tastes too.

## Choosing pork bone soup and its spice level

The menu is fairly simple. There are several spice levels, so you can choose according to your own taste. Since this is a spicy pork bone haejangguk restaurant, there are naturally lots of very spicy options!!! But it was nice that there was a mild option for spice wimps like me. I chose mild, and it was exactly my kind of flavor!! Not spicy, with a broth that tasted deeply of beef bone stock.!!

First, choose between hot pot and haejangguk, then select the details within that.

## Pork bone udon haejangguk and special pork bone haejangguk

![Ordered pork bone udon haejangguk and special pork bone haejangguk](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk-11-1wspz-900.webp)

Since I am a noodle person, I ordered the pork bone udon haejangguk, a noodle-based haejangguk I had never seen at a haejangguk restaurant before.

- Pork bone udon haejangguk (₩10,000)
- Special pork bone haejangguk (₩14,000)

![Wasabi mustard sauce with pork bone udon haejangguk](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk-12-xqslk-900.webp)

They also give you a mustard sauce with wasabi. I mixed in mustard to my liking, then dipped the meat into it.

### How the pork bone soup with udon noodles tasted

I wondered whether the udon noodles might feel separate from the soup, but wow, they were really delicious. The noodles had properly absorbed the deep beef bone flavor of the pork bone haejangguk.

There was such a generous amount of udon that the noodles alone were filling!!

![Generous bowl of udon noodle haejangguk](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk-15-xzn2v-900.webp)

There were two substantial bones inside and plenty of meat too. I usually mix rice into my soup, but having noodles instead made it even better. That does not mean rice is missing, either, so you can mix in rice as you like and eat it with the udon too!!

![Pork bone haejangguk with meat and rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk-19-fcl0i-900.webp)

I tend to pull all the meat off the bones first, so I did that before eating, and it was so delicious.. The sauce was a perfect match too.

![Meat removed from the bone and dipped in mustard sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk-20-17dd2-900.webp)

And even more amazing than the sauce were these pickled onions… I finished the bowl while eating one onion piece at a time, and they have a completely different appeal from kkakdugi!! Onion breath or not, they were so good that I ate loads of them!! So good.

![Pickled onions served as a side dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk-21-1gcwx-900.webp)

And this is the special pork bone haejangguk. “Special” does not mean the ttukbaegi (earthenware bowl) gets bigger, but there is more meat inside!!!

![Special pork bone haejangguk with a larger amount of meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk/suwon-ingyedong-udon-haejangguk-22-356uj-900.webp)

The special haejangguk comes with an incredibly generous amount of meat and other ingredients!!

It is a good menu choice for big eaters. This is a great place to come when you need a hangover cure after a night out in Ingye-dong, or simply when you want a satisfying solo dinner, breakfast, or lunch.
