## In short

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch is a café in the basement food square of the Songdo outlet in Yeonsu, Incheon. The writer ordered one vanilla Wunder Gato and one hojicha+vanilla half-and-half, each ₩7,500, and compared them side by side, finding the soft-serve portion generous on both. Verdict: go vanilla for pure sweetness, or hojicha half-and-half for a toasty tea aroma.

Today I'm bringing you an honest review of Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch, which I stopped by while shopping at the Songdo outlet because I wanted something sweet!!

## Where is it in the Songdo outlet, and was there a wait?

Wunder Coffee Bar is in the basement 1F food square area of the Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch, so it's a good spot to take a quick break while shopping. Luckily the day I went wasn't a super busy time, so I could order right away with no wait! I got a buzzer after ordering and found a seat first while waiting.

![Seating at the outlet café after receiving the buzzer](https://img.superchart.com/images/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha-04-8gb4v-900.webp)

Since it's a café inside an outlet mall, the seating isn't as spacious as a standalone large café, but there was enough room nearby to sit, so it was fine for a quick sugar break mid-shopping!

## Menu and Wunder Gato prices

Looking at the menu, there were regular Americanos and café lattes too, but once you've made it here, the signature Wunder Gato is what really catches your eye!

Wunder Gato is basically an affogato — soft-serve ice cream paired with espresso! When I visited, it was ₩7,500, and you could choose the ice cream flavor from vanilla / hojicha / hojicha+vanilla mix.

Since we were going to eat two anyway, we ordered one Wunder Gato Vanilla and one Wunder Gato Hojicha+Vanilla Half-and-Half! No point ordering the same thing twice. If there are two of you, you've got to try a variety of menu items haha.

## What surprised me most when I got it: the ice cream portion

The buzzer went off and I picked it up, and my first thought was "wow, they really give you a lot of ice cream?"

![Two cups of Wunder Gato with soft-serve piled high above the cup](https://img.superchart.com/images/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha-08-1u6ba-900.webp)

Usually when I think of affogato, I picture a small cup with one or two scoops of ice cream with espresso poured over it! But as you can see in the photo, Wunder Gato piles the soft-serve up high over the cup, so it looked pretty generous even just visually. The ice cream portion is insane, right...?

![Generously portioned Wunder Gato soft-serve](https://img.superchart.com/images/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha-09-1ijcj-900.webp)

If you're someone who loves ice cream, this part alone will satisfy you! Instead of mixing everything together right away, I first tried a bite of just the ice cream on its own — it was soft and sweet and delicious.

![A bite of smoothly melting soft-serve ice cream](https://img.superchart.com/images/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha-10-1o4x3-900.webp)

It wasn't the type with icy granules you can feel — more like a smoothly melting soft-serve.

## The Wunder Gato vanilla flavor

First, the most basic one, vanilla Wunder Gato. The vanilla ice cream alone is sweet and soft, but once the strong espresso touches it, the affogato feel really comes alive.

You'd think it would be too sweet, but the coffee's bitterness comes in and tempers the sweetness, so I found myself eating more than expected.

Especially where the espresso touches, the ice cream melts slightly and turns creamy — that part is really delicious. If you leave it too long trying to take photos, the ice cream melts, so you have to shoot fast. Even dessert doesn't wait for a blogger's life haha.

When you scoop down to the bottom with a spoon, you get cold vanilla ice cream + strong coffee + melted, softened ice cream all at once — that combination was pretty great.

![Scooping up vanilla ice cream and coffee with a spoon](https://img.superchart.com/images/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha-12-wrksf-900.webp)

Even if coffee's bitterness is too much for you, eating it with the vanilla ice cream should feel much smoother.

## What does the hojicha+vanilla half-and-half taste like?

And out of curiosity I also ordered the hojicha + vanilla half-and-half Wunder Gato. If you're not someone who eats hojicha (roasted green tea) often, you might think "what flavor is this?" at first.

If matcha is more about a vivid grassy note and bitterness, hojicha is a bit nuttier and toastier, with the distinct aroma of roasted tea. So when made into ice cream, it feels completely different from vanilla. The first taste is sweet ice cream, but as you keep eating, the tea aroma rises subtly! I really liked this distinct hojicha flavor.

![Hojicha and vanilla half-and-half Wunder Gato](https://img.superchart.com/images/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha-13-1jtgm-900.webp)

Especially when you order it half-and-half with vanilla, one side is familiar sweet and soft, and the other is nutty with a tea aroma, so it's fun to alternate between them. If you're a bit worried about ordering hojicha alone, trying the half-and-half first isn't a bad idea!

## Mixing it with espresso brings out yet another flavor

The Wunder Gato was delicious even just eating the ice cream on top, but the real main event was mixing it with the coffee!! At first I only scooped the part touched by espresso, but later I mixed the ice cream fully with the coffee.

As it gradually melts, it becomes almost like a thick, smooth strong coffee shake. Especially with hojicha, once it meets the espresso, the nutty, bitter flavor comes through more than just a sweet dessert, which personally I liked. On the other hand, if you prefer something sweet and universally likable, vanilla would be the safer choice.

- Sweet and soft flavor → vanilla
- Toasty tea aroma and a bit of a different taste → hojicha
- Curious about both → half-and-half

Choosing this way should minimize regrets.

## Perfect for when you're running low on energy while shopping at the Songdo outlet!!

Above all, it was convenient that it's inside the Hyundai Premium Outlet, so you don't need to go outside to find a separate café. When you're shopping, you keep walking, and at some point you suddenly crave coffee and something sweet, right? At times like that, an Americano is fine too, but personally I'd recommend trying the Wunder Gato at Wunder Coffee Bar!

When we visited there was no wait either, so we ordered, got a buzzer, waited comfortably, and picked it up~! Above all, the ice cream portion was bigger than I expected, which was satisfying.

Price-wise, ₩7,500 for one affogato isn't cheap exactly, but they pile the ice cream on generously and you get to enjoy espresso together, so thinking of it as having a dessert, it was fine~! Next time I go back, I think I'll get the hojicha half-and-half again. 👍 The vanilla was delicious too, but the distinct toasty aroma of the hojicha stuck with me.

![The hojicha half-and-half Wunder Gato near the end of eating](https://img.superchart.com/images/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha/wunder-coffee-bar-songdo-wundergato-vanilla-hojicha-14-1v8mp-900.webp)

If you usually like matcha or green tea desserts, or if you're looking for something a bit different from regular vanilla ice cream, give the hojicha a try too.
