The moment you step off the elevator, instead of the heavy, intimidating feel a lot of barbershops have, you're greeted by a trendy, modern monotone interior. Especially by the window, a huge picture window opens onto a lush green view, so there's zero stuffiness while you wait.

Apparently every designer at Ieum Men's Hair has completed all the courses at a men's and barber training institute and passed an in-house test — real skill behind the chair! What I especially liked was that instead of a reservation system that cranks through several clients at once, it's a genuinely 1:1 customized consultation focused entirely on one person.

## How the drop cut was done

True to a men's shop, the clippers, razors, scissors and wax were all neatly organized by type.

The hair got cut away confidently and quickly. Using a range of tools to cut fast, but the attention to detail kept catching my eye.

Just from the cut alone, the shaggy back disappeared and the neckline opened up — his head even looked smaller, somehow?

## How the down perm works, step by step

Ieum Men's Hair's down perm isn't just about pressing everything flat to the scalp — it's customized to the shape of the head, smoothing the sides naturally while keeping the top rounded with volume. They generously sprayed on scalp protectant before applying the perm solution, clearly taking real care.

While the perm solution processed, they brought over a drink too, so I could relax with a sweet iced tea.

After about 15 to 20 minutes, with the perm solution cleanly coating the hair, we moved to the shampoo room to rinse it out. They washed his hair thoroughly, and the firm-but-comfortable pressure-point massage melted away fatigue and tension he'd built up.

After drying it by tousling with a blow dryer, they used several clippers to refine the lines once more with precision. A small amount of styling wax to define the texture, and it was done.
