Today I want to talk about the trip Ddoddo and I took to Seonjae-do and Yeongheung-do last week. I'd actually been looking at pensions on Daebu-do and Yeongheung-do, but remembered a dog-friendly pension on Seonjae-do near Yeongheung-do that I'd had my eye on, so I booked it right away and went.

This time we stayed at Luna Beach Seonjae Hotel & Pension on Seonjae-do. For anyone looking for a dog-friendly pension on Seonjae-do or Yeongheung-do, here's my honest review of staying there with Ddoddo!

## Parking and entrance at Luna Beach Seonjae

We arrived at Luna Beach Seonjae after booking! There's parking right in front of the building — space for about 7–8 cars — so we could park easily and head in. Right behind where we parked is the entrance, and going down to the basement takes you straight to the lobby :)

## What's in the first-floor lobby?

There's an elevator inside the building, which made moving around with Ddoddo's dog stroller easy, and the lobby restroom was clean too, so it was comfortable getting around.

On the left side of the lobby there's a neatly organized recycling area. On the amenity shelf next to the desk they had waste pads, of course, plus spare towels and even first-aid medicine thoughtfully stocked, so I could grab whatever I needed, haha.

And on the right side of the lobby there's this huge door that looks like it leads into a school auditorium! Going in, I found an entertainment space complete with a pool table, a bar table, and even a karaoke machine, lol. Amazingly, you can use all of this with no extra charge until 10pm, so it was perfect for killing time after dinner.

## Shared kitchen, self-service shop and pet dry room

True to being a dog-friendly pension on Seonjae-do, the ground-floor shared kitchen had everything — a pet dry room and even dog bowls in different sizes, lol. Plenty of waste pads in the lobby too, so it seemed like it would really cut down on the amount of dog gear you need to bring and make caring for your pup easier.

There's also a microwave, a shared sink, an unmanned store, and a big table! You don't need to keep going back and forth to your room — you can handle barbecue prep, cleanup and dishes right there on the ground floor before heading up, which was really convenient.

## The outdoor pool and barbecue deck

Once you pass through the lobby and step outside, the wide-open view and the building's exterior come into full view! The weather was great that day too, so the lawn and deck under a blue sky looked really pretty. Even watching it back on video, I can still feel that same open, breezy feeling, haha 🌿

Right as you step outside, there's a large outdoor pool! It's a human-only pool at 1.5m deep, which looked great for summer water play. (※ Dogs are not allowed in this pool!)

The pool itself is quite spacious, plenty big enough for several people to swim together! The pension even provides tubes in different sizes and water guns, so you don't need to bring your own, haha. Nearby there's also a swing and a nice gazebo-style resting spot, perfect for taking a break while swimming.

Around the pool there's a spacious outdoor barbecue deck! Big enough for family or friend gatherings, and honestly big enough for a group trip too. If you're looking for a group pension on Seonjae-do or a group stay on Yeongheung-do, this would be great for coming with several people, haha.

## The dog run and dog pool: how far do the fences go?

On one side of the outdoor area is this wide, comfortable artificial-turf dog playground! Because the ground is artificial turf, it was great for 13-year-old Ddoddo with her weaker joints — she could run around freely without worrying about getting hurt.

On one side there's also a dog-only pool for a refreshing splash. Maybe because the weather was so nice that day, Ddoddo seemed to be in a great mood, running around happily, and just watching her made me feel so relaxed too, haha.

And honestly, even at a dog-friendly pension, if there's no fencing or waste pads and dogs are only barely allowed, it's not easy to let them off leash with peace of mind, right? But at Luna Beach Seonjae on Seonjae-do, there's a fence installed in the dog run so dogs can't cross over into the pool area, which was great. Thanks to that, Ddoddo could run around the dog run a little more comfortably, and I really felt the thoughtful consideration for guardians visiting with their dogs.

> 💡 Heads up — the outdoor barbecue area and pool aren't fully fenced off overall, so keep that in mind!

## Inside the Spa Room at Luna Beach Seonjae

We took the elevator up to our room comfortably~~ The hallway right off the elevator was clean too ✨ The floor was so shiny it looked like they clean thoroughly all the time, haha.

Opening the door, there was a generous storage space — half shoe cabinet, half closet? — right inside. A system air conditioner was neatly installed on the ceiling, keeping the room cool and comfortable, haha. The bathroom was spotless with no water stains, and basic amenities like shampoo and body wash were provided. Toothpaste was there, but I didn't see disposable toothbrushes, so it's better to bring your own!

The room we booked was the Spa Room — one queen bed plus a spa. Dogs over 10kg are allowed, and it can hold up to 6 people. Once inside, the living room was spacious enough that even 6 people could comfortably use it together. There was enough room that it wouldn't feel cramped even with a group, so it seemed good for staying with family or friends too.

### The private terrace, found only in the Spa Room and Twin Room

I was debating between this and a couple's room when I found out this private terrace is only available in the Spa Room and Twin Room. Since we were staying with Ddoddo, I wanted a terrace, so I booked the Spa Room — and once I saw it in person, I was really glad I did. You can see the outside scenery from the terrace, and it was great for getting a little fresh air with Ddoddo too, ˚༘♡

The kitchen had pots, pans and all sorts of cookware, plus dishes and cups, all well stocked. There was also a microwave, rice cooker and fridge, so cooking up something simple wouldn't be a problem. In front of the kitchen was a table for four, with plenty of room for several people to sit and eat together, haha. And in the closet there were plenty of spare bedding sets too, which seemed useful for visiting with family or friends!

Ddoddo seemed to like the room condition too, lol. So excited about something, she was grinning the moment she walked in. Watching her wander around clearly knowing she was on a trip, still excited, made me feel happy too, haha.

## How the outdoor areas change at night

By evening, the outdoor area felt completely different from the daytime. As the lights around the pool switched on one by one, a soft, moody atmosphere came alive ✦ ₊˚

Ddoddo came out to the dog run even in the evening, sniffing around here and there for a good while, haha. If daytime was for running around excitedly, nighttime was more like a leisurely, happy stroll, and it was so cute, 🤍

## What's free in the barbecue setup?

Coming down to the shared kitchen for barbecue prep, I looked around and found more was provided than I expected! A gas burner, various dishes and cups, tongs, scissors — pretty much everything needed for barbecue was there.

Best of all, there's no separate usage fee for these amenities, so we could use what we needed comfortably. There was also a separate fridge for guests to store their own food, so we could keep meat, drinks or beverages we'd brought and take them out when needed. Disposable tablecloths were also available in the shared kitchen, so we grabbed everything we needed there before heading out to barbecue.

With everything gathered from the shared kitchen, we headed out to the outdoor barbecue deck! Each table had a large parasol, which made for a great nighttime atmosphere, and we set up with Ddoddo's stroller too.

Maybe because of the bright lighting inside the building, but we barely saw any bugs while grilling! Plus there was a separate bug repellent installed near the shared kitchen, so we could prep for the outdoor barbecue without worrying about bugs.

Once it turned to night, there was a nice, cool breeze blowing~ Ddoddo seemed to enjoy the cool air too, sitting calmly in the stroller catching the breeze, haha.

No matter what, the highlight of a pension trip is barbecue time ✨ On the spacious outdoor deck, we set up the charcoal and grilled up thick pork belly, sausages and king oyster mushrooms until golden brown, haha.

Eating outdoors in the clean air with a cool night breeze definitely made the meat taste several times better. A cold beer cheers moment washed away all the stress that had built up!

After barbecue time, we went for a final night walk~~ The moment we got back to the room, Ddoddo was so happy she started rolling around on the blankets doing her worm dance, lol. You can probably tell how satisfied she was!

While Ddoddo rested comfortably, we finished the day nicely with some takeout raw fish and a relaxed drink 🤍

## Is Luna Beach Seonjae a good dog-friendly stay on Seonjae-do?

This trip to Luna Beach Seonjae Hotel & Pension on Seonjae-do with Ddoddo was great because we could comfortably use the room, the outdoor area, and the dog run all together. Ddoddo especially loved being able to run freely in the spacious dog run, and the well-equipped spaces for using with a dog made me think this place would work well for others traveling with dogs like us.
