## In short

Doseogwan Dwitjip is a Chinese restaurant near Cheongdeok Library in Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi. I went to cure a hangover with jjajangmyeon but fell hard for the spicy, smoky broth of its snow-cheese jjamppong, plus a pepper jjajang and tangsuyuk set for 13,500 won. Verdict: come for a hearty Chinese meal in a book-café-like setting.

My hangover food the day after drinking too much is a wee bit unusual. Most people look for a spicy jjamppong (Korean-Chinese spicy seafood noodle soup), right? I cure mine with jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce), haha. That was the plan this day too, but would you look at that—I came for jjajangmyeon and completely fell for the smoky jjamppong instead! This is Doseogwan Dwitjip, a great jjamppong spot in Giheung-gu, Yongin ✨️

## Doseogwan Dwitjip’s name, parking, and waiting

Huh? “Why is a jjamppong restaurant called Doseogwan Dwitjip?” Then I learned Cheongdeok Library is nearby. It is a Chinese restaurant settled by the library, so the name means “the house behind the library”—isn’t that sooo clever? It is not the usual Chinese restaurant name, so it sticks in your mind after one hearing, and the green view outside the window gives it that promising-restaurant feeling right from the name.

### Parking and waiting information

It is usually relaxed on weekends and holidays, or after 6 p.m. on weekdays. At weekday lunch, though, the restaurant’s dedicated lot only fits about two or three cars, so you may need to use nearby side-street parking depending on the situation.

![Doseogwan Dwitjip waiting area](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-05-6zir0-900.webp)

As you would expect from a popular Giheung-gu, Yongin restaurant, there was a tablet waiting system too. Enter your phone number and you are called in order once a table has been cleared, so you do not have to stand waiting in front of the restaurant the whole time. There was even a waiting area with a cute bear.

## A wood-toned Chinese restaurant that feels like a book café

Wow—I wondered, “Is this really a Chinese restaurant?” from the moment I arrived at Doseogwan Dwitjip!! Its huge floor-to-ceiling glass façade and wood accents made it feel like a lovely book café. Warm lighting, wood-toned tables and chairs, and books displayed here and there made it genuinely feel like I had come to a library or book café. My favorite part was especially the window seats 💚 Through the big windows, dense trees filled the view, so I could enjoy all that green too. The phrase on the window, “A place to savor flavor as if reading a book, Doseogwan Dwitjip,” suited the atmosphere perfectly.

![Restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows and a tree view](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-06-1e85w-900.webp)

There were high chairs on one side too. The tables had plenty of space between them and the place was neat overall, so it looked great for a family meal out.

There was also a separate self-service bar for utensils, small plates, and extra side dishes. A cute sign asked just one person per table to use it, then added, “Especially couples: make the boyfriend do everything,” which absolutely cracked me up hahaha. Oh! Free rice—what a thoughtful touch! You can serve yourself as much as you want, which would be perfect for mixing rice into the leftover jjamppong broth after finishing the noodles. Just imagining rice in that properly smoky broth made me drool.

The restroom was inside the restaurant as well, which made it easy to use during the meal.

Each table had vinegar, soy sauce, and chili powder, so it was easy to season things to your taste. Military personnel, police officers, and firefighters are reportedly given a large portion at no extra charge. It is a place that shares gratitude with people working hard for our society, not just a delicious meal, and that kind of warm consideration makes a restaurant linger in your memory, doesn’t it? Doseogwan Dwitjip is not just friendly in name!!

## Doseogwan Dwitjip’s menu and solo set

![Doseogwan Dwitjip menu](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-10-ee3vh-900.webp)

![Doseogwan Dwitjip set menu](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-11-1f7jq-900.webp)

![Doseogwan Dwitjip Chinese food menu](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-12-16ifo-900.webp)

There is a well-rounded selection, from basic jjajang and jjamppong dishes to solo set meals, rice dishes, and sides like tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork) and fried dumplings! Solo sets that let you enjoy fried dumplings or tangsuyuk with jjajang or jjamppong start in the ₩9,000 range, so they looked like a satisfying choice even when dining alone!

![Receipt review event information](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-14-191r2-900.webp)

And if you write a receipt review, you can get complimentary fried dumplings or a drink, so do not forget to check that out :) ❤️

Doseogwan Dwitjip does not sell alcohol itself, but you can bring your own! Corkage is free, with up to three bottles per table. Such useful info for anyone who loves baijiu or soju with Korean-Chinese food, right? Hehehe.

## Ordering the pepper jjajang set and snow-cheese jjamppong

For someone who came to cure a hangover with jjajangmyeon, I sure placed a feast of an order hahaha. Everything on the menu looked so delicious, you know.

- Pepper jjajang + tangsuyuk ₩13,500
- Snow-cheese jjamppong ₩11,000
- Fried dumplings ₩3,000
- Drink ₩2,000

### Sweet, spicy pepper jjajang

Ahh, this pepper jjajang was thick, glossy, and glorious. Loads of chili powder—100 points for the looks alone, haha. The rich, gleaming black bean sauce had generous chunks of onion and toppings, finished with chili powder and Cheongyang chili peppers for a spicy kick! Mix it up well and take a big bite, and the sweet-salty, savory depth of chunjang (fermented black bean paste) lands right away~

![Pepper jjajang with chili powder and Cheongyang chili peppers](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-15-1f601-900.webp)

![Pepper jjajang with onion and quail egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-16-kz9bf-900.webp)

Protein first with the cute little quail egg~ The crunchy onions gave it great texture, and the chili powder’s heat appeared here and there, so I could keep slurping noodles without getting tired of it! The noodles are house-made without additives, so they have a soft texture too. Even after eating lots, my stomach felt comfortable rather than heavy.

I was happy to see peas dotted on top, something you do not often find on jjajangmyeon these days. It felt like the old-school jjajangmyeon I ate as a kid, haha. Crunchy pieces of Cheongyang chili gave little bursts of sharp heat, waking up my appetite with no time for richness to set in. Sweet, nutty old-school jjajang flavor with a spicy edge too ~,~

### Spicy snow-cheese jjamppong with melted cheese

Ta-da~ Here comes today’s main event, the snow-cheese jjamppong! White cheese lay like freshly fallen snow over the bright-red jjamppong.

I wondered whether cheese would make it too rich, but no way! The moment I spooned up the broth, the spicy, punchy jjamppong flavor was followed by cheese’s distinctive nuttiness gently melting through—wow!! This combination was incredibly charming.

![Snow-cheese jjamppong topped with cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-18-bxubx-900.webp)

![Snow-cheese jjamppong broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-19-5u1d9-900.webp)

As the cheese naturally melted into the broth, it softly wrapped around the heat, but the signature sharp spiciness of jjamppong did not disappear! It was nutty yet punchy, smooth yet warming. There was a proper amount of seafood too, including scallops and squid. This was not a jjamppong that only had noodles—it was fun fishing out seafood piece by piece~

It was not only seafood in the jjamppong, either. As I stirred around, big pieces of meat were hiding in there too!! The cool savory flavor drawn from the seafood, plus the hearty richness of meat—there is no way this could not taste good!!! Picking up the chewy noodles with mung bean sprouts and slurping them down gave a lovely crisp texture too, and the broth clung beautifully to the noodles. It was made for noodle slurping, haha.

![Jjamppong with seafood and meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-20-yob00-900.webp)

![Jjamppong with mung bean sprouts and noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-21-i2xkb-900.webp)

The broth was seriously deep and rich! Incredible!! It looked extremely spicy, but rather than being hot for heat’s sake, it was warming, punchy, and full of umami—the kind of addictive jjamppong that makes you take one spoonful, then another, then another 💗

And definitely do not miss the receipt-review event! I wrote a receipt review and received complimentary fried dumplings. They were golden and crisp from frying, and sooo delicious. It would be a shame to miss a little perk like this.

![Receipt-event fried dumplings](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-22-zc0io-900.webp)

![Glutinous-rice tangsuyuk topped with cabbage](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-23-1m5x0-1200.webp)

This tangsuyuk came as the side in the pepper jjajang solo set, and the portion was quietly generous too. It was glutinous-rice-style tangsuyuk, fried crisp and piled high with shredded cabbage. Crispy outside, tender inside pork + crunchy vegetables + sweet-and-sour sauce = very, very good! The batter was pale and clean-looking, which made it feel as though they manage their frying oil well.

After properly working through jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, tangsuyuk, and fried dumplings, what comes last? A cold Coke >.< It cleared away the spicy, punchy taste in my mouth, and that fizzy sip after fried food made the ending perfect.

![Drink and instant mix coffee to finish the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong/yongin-cheongdeok-cheese-jjamppong-24-zdwh2-900.webp)

One sweet cup of instant mix coffee too! From rice to dessert coffee, I cleared it all properly! Another delicious hangover cure, well enjoyed ❤️

## I came for hangover jjajang and fell for smoky jjamppong

Doseogwan Dwitjip, a Giheung-gu, Yongin favorite, felt completely different from an ordinary Chinese restaurant. I really loved the book-café-like atmosphere created by the books, wood-toned interior, and lush scenery outside the window! I visited intending to cure my hangover with jjajangmyeon, then totally fell for the jjamppong with its real smoky fire flavor, haha. The snow-cheese jjamppong was packed with meat and seafood for a hearty meal, and the pepper jjajang and tangsuyuk solo set was great value too!
