On a Monday evening my husband and I went out for dinner in Bongseon-dong and ended up at Mitaly Gwangju Bongseon Branch!

## Where is Mitaly Gwangju Bongseon Branch, and what's the first impression?

Mitaly in Bongseon-dong is on the first floor, so it's visible right from the street. The standee out front advertising authentic Italian tomato pasta for ₩6,800 really grabbed my attention, haha. Given how pasta prices are these days, that price alone made me look twice 👀

The clean white exterior made Mitaly easy to spot even from a distance, haha 🤍 We arrived a little after 7pm after work, and thankfully there was no wait!

There was a menu board right by the entrance, so we could check the overall menu and prices before going in. I thought it was just pasta, but they actually have pizza, pilaf, risotto, steak and even pork cutlet — way more variety than I expected!

To the right of the entrance there was also a clean waiting area with the Mitaly logo on it.

The interior was white-toned all around too! It was bright and clean with quite a few tables, so it felt comfortable whether you're dining solo, on a date, or with family.

When we visited it wasn't crowded at all, so we had a relaxed dinner, haha.

## Mitaly Bongseon menu prices and set options

Let's take a look at the menu. Tomato pasta starts at ₩6,800, and most pastas hover around ₩10,000, so the overall pricing felt pretty reasonable. Beyond pasta, there's pilaf, risotto, pizza and pork cutlet too, so it shouldn't be hard to find something even with a group!

Water, paper cups, plates, cutlery and even wet wipes were all set up at the table beforehand.

You order via the tablet at each table. It was convenient because you could look at menu photos and take your time deciding, haha. If you want to pay cash, you can also order directly with staff at the counter!

First up, the hallabong (Korean citrus) ade appeared 🍊 It leaned more sweet than tangy or refreshing.

After a short wait, both mains arrived together! The spicy carbonara and soy-braised beef pilaf showed up!!!

First, the spicy carbonara I picked, on medium heat! With spicy carbonara you can choose original / medium spicy / very spicy, and I went with medium. The spiciness cut through the creaminess of the cream pasta and came through subtly — it was delicious!

And the soy-braised beef pilaf! I honestly didn't expect much when I picked it, but it turned out even better than I thought, haha. The rice itself was well seasoned, and the sauce and mayo drizzled on top were the real kick 👏 Scooping up plenty of the beef with it added a sweet-savory, nutty flavor that made for a filling meal.

### Spicy carbonara at Mitaly: mild enough for weak spice eaters

Back to the pasta, twirling it up 🍝 The cream sauce wasn't the thin, watery style — it was thick and clung to the noodles nicely, which is exactly my type.

Since I chose medium spicy, there was a slight kick of heat coming through the thick cream, which I liked. That said, even I — someone who can't handle spice well — could eat it comfortably, so if you genuinely love spicy food, you might want to go for very spicy 🔥

The toppings were also surprisingly generous! There was plenty of bacon and button mushrooms, so every bite of noodles came with toppings too 👍

### Soy-braised beef pilaf, better than expected

Let me mix the pilaf's sauce all the way through and take a big bite.

With one pasta and one pilaf, it worked out nicely — eating the cream pasta, then the salty-sweet pilaf, then back to the pasta, haha. We alternated between spicy and salty-sweet and cleaned our plates, hehe.

We were digging into the mains when... oh right, we still had the sampler, haha. The side sampler we'd forgotten about showed up 👏 It comes with 1 buffalo wing, 1 drumstick, 1 chicken tender and french fries.

The fries came in a more generous portion than expected too 🍟 A perfect side sampler to pick at bite by bite while working through the pasta and pilaf, haha.

My husband ate the buffalo wing and I had the drumstick — both were good! Having a tender as a third, different type meant we got to try a little bit of everything, which was nice.

And of course, fries dipped in ketchup are always right 🍅 Even with just the two mains we hadn't felt like the portion was small, but with the sampler on top it was definitely filling enough for two.

We ended by toasting — not with drinks, but with the wing and the drumstick, haha 🍗

## Is Mitaly in Bongseon-dong worth a second visit?

It had been a while since my husband and I had a casual dinner in Bongseon-dong, and this place turned out more satisfying than expected 🍝 With such a varied menu, I'd like to come back for lunch next time and try the pizza or other pastas we didn't get to. If you're in Bongseon-dong and want a quick, easy pasta meal, I'd recommend Mitaly ❤️
