We ordered the sticky rice nurungji (scorched rice) pork gukbap, the sanghwang mushroom nurungji pork gukbap and a two-person suyuk (boiled pork) set, then added two extra bowls of rice — a portion-size mistake, since the nurungji kept swelling in the broth. The tables come with pepper, dadaegi (spicy chili paste), jeotgal (salted seafood), and perilla powder to go with the gukbap. The signature dishes are the Sinjuokmi Boyang Sundae-guk, the special spicy fern (gosari) myeongin sundae-guk, spicy fern assorted offal gukbap, and sticky rice nurungji pork gukbap, plus they sell assorted sundae (blood sausage) and suyuk (boiled pork). The suyuk in particular is boiled four times a day, apparently. So what did we order? Only big eaters should add a bowl of rice to Sinjuokmi's sticky rice nurungji pork gukbap. At first...thinking there was only a little nurungji in there, we ordered two extra bowls of rice separately, and that turned out to be a portion-size mistake ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ The nurungji kept swelling as we ate, until it basically became a whole bowl of rice on its own. We barely managed half a bowl of rice with the suyuk and ended up leaving nurungji behind. Overall the restaurant was spacious, clean, and tasty enough that I want to come back. It would also work well for a company dinner or a group gathering. (The taste and atmosphere seem like something parents would enjoy too.)
