## In short

Ogeorijip is a Korean soup restaurant near Seohakdong Art Village in Seohak-dong, Jeonju, Jeonbuk, serving bean sprout rice soup (kongnamul-gukbap) and Korean beef knee soup (hanwoo dogani-tang). Before a weekend outing, the writer brought her kids for an early lunch at Ogeorijip and ordered the Emperor bean sprout rice soup at 9,000 won and the Korean beef knee soup at 12,000 won, eating the salted shrimp, seaweed and poached egg exactly the way the owner explained. Both kids asked for the knee soup and the rice soup and finished every bite, making Ogeorijip a hearty stop for a family meal.

My kids love soup, so before heading out for a weekend outing I wanted to fill up on a hearty bowl first, and that's how we ended up at Ogeorijip (오거리집) in Seohak-dong, Jeonju.

## Where is Ogeorijip in Jeonju, and what are the hours and parking?

We went before 11am, and there was space at the public parking lot, so we parked there and walked over.

## Inside Ogeorijip: the dining room and the menu prices

*Inside the restaurant*

As soon as we walked in, the owner greeted us so warmly that we sat down feeling great, haha. We went during early lunch hours, so there weren't many other customers, which meant we could take our time with the kids.

The restaurant itself is small, but the inside was kept spotlessly clean!

- Classic bean sprout soup: ₩7,000
- Beef knee soup: ₩12,000
- Special beef knee soup: ₩17,000

We ordered the emperor bean sprout soup and the beef knee soup.

### How the owner wraps seaweed with salted shrimp

After we ordered, the basic side dishes and small plates were set out for us. Kimchi, salted shrimp, and seaweed came out, and the salted shrimp looked and felt different in color and texture from what I'd usually see at a bean sprout soup place.

![Rice and salted shrimp brought out before the soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip-06-ycsg0-675.webp)

Before the soup arrived, the owner brought out bowls of rice first and told us to put a little salted shrimp on top of the rice, then wrap it in seaweed and try it. I did exactly as instructed, and it was genuinely delicious!!

The salted shrimp wasn't overly salty at all, and it tasted different from the usual kind — combined with the seaweed and rice, it had this savory depth that got my appetite going right away.

The kids tried it too, putting a little salted shrimp on their rice and wrapping it in seaweed, and they said it was so good they made a few more wraps, haha.

![Extra seaweed and side dish plates](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip-09-1jsr0-675.webp)

Rice, seaweed, and the basic side dishes were all refillable, so we could eat as much as we wanted.

## Emperor bean sprout rice soup and the poached egg: how to eat them

![A bowl of emperor bean sprout soup with squid](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip-10-16ud2-900.webp)

We didn't wait long before our food arrived. I took the first bite of the emperor bean sprout soup, and there was more squid in it than I expected!!

The rice came already mixed into the soup, packed full of bean sprouts, and the broth seasoning was just right.

A soft poached egg (suran) came alongside the bean sprout soup,

and the owner showed us how to eat it — scoop a few spoonfuls of the bean sprout soup broth over it, tear in some seaweed, and mix it all together.

I added some of the bean sprouts from the soup on top too, and with their crunch, the poached egg was even better.

## Korean beef knee soup (dogani-tang) the kids finished too

The beef knee soup had a really rich, deep broth! My kids already love bone broth soups (sagol gomtang), and they dug into this knee soup just as happily.

![Beef knee soup with a generous amount of knee meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip-15-vgqwt-675.webp)

There was a generous amount of knee meat in the soup, so my husband happily dipped piece after piece into the vinegar-chili sauce, haha.

![Knee soup and bean sprout soup split into a child's bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip-17-vpb4b-602.webp)

Our second kid said both the knee soup and the bean sprout soup were delicious and insisted on having both, so we split some into two separate bowls, hahaha.

Even while saying the kimchi was spicy, they neatly ate small pieces of the radish kimchi topped with seaweed. Watching the kids eat so well, the owner looked on kindly.

## Is Ogeorijip worth it? The verdict on a bone-broth lunch in Jeonju

![Empty soup bowls](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip/jeonju-seohakdong-kids-lunch-gukbap-ogeorijip-18-wjy29-849.webp)
*Cleaned every bowl!!*

My husband, the kids, and I all had a satisfying meal at Ogeorijip and headed off on our outing feeling full.

If we'd been heading straight home after the meal, I would have wanted to buy some of the bone broth to take with us — that's how much we enjoyed it. Next time we pass by during business hours, I'm planning to buy some of that bone broth.

If you're traveling near Jeonju Hanok Village and looking for a hearty bowl of soup for breakfast or an early lunch, give Ogeorijip a try — it's a place where kids can eat well too.
