At Sotbap Hansang, a restaurant worth seeking out in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, I tried the braised beef short rib for 28,000 won and got a seriously generous pot-rice set.

Pumpkin porridge, seaweed soup, japchae, namul, and kimchi — every single side dish was good, and the whole thing felt like a complete, satisfying Korean set meal.

Arriving in the evening, the softly lit interior added to the atmosphere.

Everything looked delicious and I wanted to try several dishes, but you can't order single portions of different menus — two people have to choose the same dish — so I picked extra carefully that day.

The rib meat was tender and the seasoning had soaked in nicely.

It wasn't just a lot of side dishes for the sake of it — each one had its own distinct, good flavor, and I enjoyed every bite.

The pumpkin porridge served before the meal was especially soft and delicious. You know how hard it is to make pumpkin porridge (hobakjuk) that's actually good? Not too sweet but not bland either, with a smooth, easy texture — I really liked it. When the pumpkin porridge is good, doesn't it just make you think this place knows what it's doing with food?

It's no secret that I went back for a second helping of that pumpkin porridge because it was so good!

With seaweed soup on top of that, it really felt like a full, proper Korean set meal. Nothing overly seasoned or sharp — just comforting, homestyle flavors, which made the meal satisfying right from the start.

### Refills at the self-serve banchan bar

Sotbap Hansang also has a self-serve banchan bar, so I could easily grab more of any side dish I wanted.

Namul, yeolmu mul-kimchi (young radish water kimchi), regular kimchi, salad, and more were all neatly laid out.

I could freely top up on any side dish I was running low on during the meal.

## The pot rice: Sindongjin rice with glutinous rice and corn rice

True to its name, Sotbap Hansang obviously can't skip the pot rice (sotbap).

The pot rice is apparently made with top-grade Sindongjin rice mixed with glutinous rice and corn rice.

The rice itself was fluffy yet had a nice chewy texture.

What I liked most was that the pot rice made this feel like a truly complete set meal.

## After the meal: unmanned café and garden courtyard

After finishing the meal, Sotbap Hansang also has an unmanned café space inside the restaurant that you can use.

You can enjoy coffee and drinks at reasonable prices, and if the weather's nice, it's also lovely to relax for a bit in the garden courtyard.
