Do you all like nurungjitang (scorched rice soup) among Chinese menu items? I love it because the hot broth warms you up inside, and with seafood and all kinds of vegetables thrown in, it feels like a hearty pick-me-up meal. Today I visited O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang, newly opened in Misa. Let me share my experience trying the piping hot nurungjitang and various other Chinese dishes :)

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang is located right on the way to Starfield Hanam, so it was easy to find. There's parking space both in front and behind the store, which made it convenient to visit by car.

## Is there a wait at lunch? The waitlist was full

I went slightly off the usual lunch rush, but if I'd gone right at lunchtime, there probably would have been a wait! The waitlist was packed 🤣

Maybe because it's newly opened, the interior was really clean and spacious. The tables had plenty of room between them so eating didn't feel cramped at all — it seemed like a great spot for family meals or even group gatherings.

## Menu, table ordering and robot servers

True to its specialty, the main menu item at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang was of course nurungjitang, but there were also plenty of other Chinese dishes prepared to go well alongside it, so you could pick according to your taste and enjoy a satisfying meal.

After ordering via table order kiosk, the basic side dishes were neatly set out, and our ordered food was brought out by a robot server. Water was provided cleanly in plastic bottles, and they even gave us separate kid-sized tableware, which made it great for visiting as a family.

## Side dishes and the self-serve kimchi bar

There were a variety of good side dishes that paired well with the nurungjitang. The kimchi was so good I wondered if this place was secretly a kimchi specialist. Green onion kimchi, baek kimchi (white kimchi), and dried radish strips were even sold separately, and quite a few people were actually buying kimchi to take home at checkout.

Extra side dishes could be freely grabbed from the self-serve bar as much as you wanted, which was convenient. There was also a simple orange dessert set aside in one corner, perfect for finishing the meal on a refreshing note.

## Seafood nurungjitang poured into a stone pot at the table

One thing that really stood out was the nurungjitang itself. A staff member poured the soup into a hot stone pot right in front of us. Watching the hot soup come together right there was fun to watch, and having it made fresh like that made it look even more appetizing.

Can you see the hot steam rising off the nurungjitang? Because the stone pot was so hot, it kept bubbling away for a while even after it was set on the table. Watching it bubble away right in front of me made it look so warm, and I just wanted to grab a spoonful right away.

We ordered the most basic option, the seafood nurungjitang. I was surprised at just how much seafood was packed into the earthenware pot. It wasn't just small bits of seafood scattered around — there were big, generous chunks of seafood that looked appetizing just to look at.

## Fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk: my child ate almost all of it

Just as we were about to dig into the nurungjitang, the tangsuyuk we'd also ordered arrived. Each piece was pretty substantial and looked delicious. Made with fresh tenderloin, the meat was tender and juicy, and I enjoyed it a lot.

My kid is quite picky about tangsuyuk since they love it so much haha. But after trying this place's tangsuyuk, they said it was delicious. They ate it so eagerly that they ended up finishing almost all of it by themselves 😂 If you're visiting with kids, I'd recommend ordering the tangsuyuk too.

## How was the meal? A warming, restorative lunch

While eating, I noticed quite a few elderly customers around us too. Trying the seafood nurungjitang myself, the hot broth combined with all the seafood really made me feel warm inside. After finishing a bowl, I felt satisfied and like I'd properly nourished my body — which is probably why so many elderly customers come here.

Located right on the way to Starfield Hanam, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a good stop whether you're heading to shop or grabbing a meal afterward. With the cold wind starting to pick up these days, a bowl of hot seafood nurungjitang really warms you up and fills you up.
