I went for a walk with my mom at Dongtan Lake Park and came back to eat warm, spicy mushroom kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup).

Let me introduce Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch, my recommended lunch spot near Dongtan Lake Park.

Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu, a great spot near Dongtan Lake Park, is on the 2nd floor of the Green Zone in the Gran Passage building. If you're driving, park in the building near Gate 3 with the CGV, then head up to the 2nd floor — it's easy to find.

You can park in the building's underground parking (B1–B2) for up to 3 hours free. It's right in front of Dongtan Lake Park, so it's great for a lake stroll after eating.

The basic side dish was fresh cabbage salad, and the crunchy texture with the spicy-sweet seasoning was fantastic. It's made carefully with domestic cabbage and domestic red pepper powder, so it felt fresh and trustworthy.

Spicy mushroom kalguksu for 3 (₩10,000 per serving) — for just ₩10,000, you can enjoy a full course from shabu-shabu to noodles to fried rice, which is great value. If kalguksu alone isn't enough, you can add beef, algoni, bean noodles, fish balls, and more, so keep that in mind.

Wasabi and soy sauce are set on the table, so mix them to your taste and dip the beef and vegetables.

Just looking at the mushrooms, bean sprouts, and minari piled high in the spicy broth made my mouth water.

Once the pot starts boiling, lower the induction to level 4 and let it simmer a little longer before eating.

Since it's a red pepper powder-based broth, it's clean without being heavy, spicy yet savory, and really delicious. The spice level isn't too strong, so even people who can't handle spicy food can enjoy it.

### When do you add the dumplings and the noodles?

Add the dumplings while there's still plenty of broth and eat them together with the soup, then cook the noodles after you've finished the other ingredients.

The dumplings were packed full of filling, and combined with the savory dumplings and spicy broth, the umami was excellent.

### Finishing the course with fried rice

For the fried rice, leave about 3–4 ladles of broth in the pot and tell the staff — they'll fry it up for you in the kitchen.

I don't know how they made it so well, but the texture was fluffy and loose like Chinese restaurant fried rice — seriously the best.

Each grain of rice felt coated and alive with texture, and it was so savory and delicious.
