## In short

Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch is a sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) restaurant in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi, sitting about halfway between Nokyang Station and Ganeung Station. The writer and her husband ordered the (Special) Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk set, which comes with pyeonyuk (sliced boiled pork) and sundae, and tried native-style sundae, chewy sundae and pyeonyuk in one spread while grinding sesame seeds into the soup at the table. Portions at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch were generous and the broth was clean with no gamey smell, making it a solid choice on a day you want a big, filling meal.

I visited Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch, a gukbap spot in Uijeongbu. This sundaeguk restaurant is already famous for huge portions, so this time I decided to go all in and ordered the special set that comes with pyeonyuk (boiled sliced pork) and sundae (Korean blood sausage) included.

## How much food comes with the (Special) Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk set?

Bottom line: ordering the special set at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch gets you a serious amount of food. So happy about it haha. It's not just a hearty bowl of sundaeguk — pyeonyuk and chewy sundae come alongside, so the table ends up looking completely loaded.

Personally, the native-style sundae inside the soup was really delicious. Getting to taste the native sundae in the soup plus the separately served chewy sundae meant I could enjoy two totally different styles of sundae in one meal, which I loved.

Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundae apparently started in 2017 among the old-school shops of the sundae alley at Yongin Central Market. Eating here, I could feel that the standard of flavor built up in Yongin carries through exactly the same at the Nokyang branch. The portions were generous, and everything from the broth to the sundae was clean overall — no trace of the off-smell that sundaeguk can sometimes have, so I could eat without any hesitation.

Especially since the Nokyang branch is currently running an opening event with free chewy sundae service, the table was already loaded from the start. No matter how big the portion, eating just one dish over and over can get a little tiring, but switching between pyeonyuk, chewy sundae, and sundaeguk meant I never got bored and enjoyed it right to the end.

## Where is Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch, and is there parking?

This Uijeongbu gukbap spot sits roughly halfway between Nokyang Station and Ganeung Station. There's a spacious dedicated parking lot, so it's easy to visit.

The thoughtful touches for guests stood out the moment I walked in — beyond the post-meal coffee machine and snacks like gangjeong (rice puffs) and candy, they had kids' chairs, hair ties, and even phone chargers all ready to go.

Fitting for a freshly opened Uijeongbu gukbap spot, the restaurant was really clean.

The restrooms are gender-divided, and there's a separate room for group guests, so it looked great for various kinds of gatherings too.

According to Naver Place, the opening event's free chewy sundae service is listed as running until September 30. After that, it looks like you might still get it by joining a review event.

Both my husband and I ordered the special set, and my husband — who has kid-level taste buds haha — went with the option that only comes with sundae.

![Self-serve corner with kimchi, kkakdugi, and other banchan](https://img.superchart.com/images/uijeongbu-nogyang-sundaeguk-special-set/uijeongbu-nogyang-sundaeguk-special-set-14-jbjap-900.webp)

## Self-serve banchan bar: the spicy pickled garlic is the hidden kick

The banchan (side dishes) at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch — kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), onion, chili, and more — are neatly set out at a self-serve corner where you can help yourself to as much as you need.

The kimchi and kkakdugi were good, but personally the spicy garlic pickle was the hidden kick among the banchan. Adding a piece here and there while eating the sundaeguk or pyeonyuk gave a sharp, spicy burst of flavor that cut right through any richness and cleaned up the palate really well.

## Sesame sundaeguk: grinding the seeds into the soup yourself

Each table comes set up with a mini mortar, sesame seeds, dadaegi (chili paste condiment), chili oil, pepper, perilla powder, salt, and salted shrimp.

![Mini mortar, sesame seeds, and condiment jars on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/uijeongbu-nogyang-sundaeguk-special-set/uijeongbu-nogyang-sundaeguk-special-set-16-lvu5z-900.webp)

Grinding your own sesame seeds to make a nutty sesame sundaeguk seems to be Yetnal Gyeongseong's signature move! So I too, as if performing an important ritual, ground it finely and stirred it in.

On top of that — a splash of chili oil, a few taps of pepper, and a good dose of perilla powder!

Seasoning it exactly to my taste, there was no way it could taste bad. The nuttiness plus the spicy-savory depth made the broth taste even better.

What I liked most, though, was the clean taste with no off-smell. Even people sensitive to the particular smell sundaeguk can have should be able to eat this one pretty comfortably.

## So much sundae in the bowl, then the rice goes in

My little tip is to pull the sundae out of the soup early and let it cool while I eat everything else. But it felt almost like a bottomless well of sundae — no matter how much I ate, more kept coming. The moment my husband said he was too full to eat any more, the leftover sundae naturally became mine 😂 score, haha.

![Sundae gukbap with rice added in](https://img.superchart.com/images/uijeongbu-nogyang-sundaeguk-special-set/uijeongbu-nogyang-sundaeguk-special-set-20-eputa-900.webp)

After picking through all the solid bits, I dropped in rice and got into proper gukbap mode. Chewy and nutty, it went really well with the sundaeguk broth.

## Pyeonyuk with spicy salted shrimp, chewy sundae with salt

It had been ages since I'd had pyeonyuk. Thinking back, this was pretty much the first time I'd properly eaten pyeonyuk since college. Dipped straight into the spicy salted shrimp, the salty-spicy shrimp condiment made the clean, mild flavor of the pyeonyuk stand out even more.

Thanks to the opening event, I got chewy sundae as a free extra, making the meal even more of a feast.

Chewy sundae, of course, gets dipped straight in salt!

That's my review of Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch, a great Uijeongbu gukbap spot to visit whenever you're craving a really hearty bowl of sundaeguk for a filling meal.
