## Spicy sundaeguk for 11,000 won: sharp broth with no funky smell

Craving something spicy, I ordered Geumganejangteo's spicy sundaejang (blood sausage soup), and it had a hot broth without any sweetness, so it was clean and easy to eat. Regular sundaejang is ₩10,000, and the spicy version costs an extra thousand won.

It's loaded with plump native-style sundae (blood sausage) and chewy meat, so it looked like a filling meal on its own as a soup with rice, and alternating bites with the beef boiled meat cut the richness, so I kept going back for more🤤 I hate sundaejang with a funky smell, so I really enjoyed this, though a friend who actually likes that distinct funky flavor thought it was a bit lacking. That just shows how clean this sundaejang was!

Geumganejangteo's beef boiled meat hot pot costs ₩39,800, and you can keep it warm by pouring in and simmering broth. Free refills are available if the broth runs low, so it was great being able to enjoy the boiled meat deliciously until the very end.

With plenty of chives, green onion, mushrooms, and chili packed in, the broth gets richer and deeper the longer you simmer it. As it cooks, fat rises from the meat, and skimming it off little by little keeps it from getting greasy.

I'm sensitive to smells and won't even look at food if there's a funky or gamy scent, but all the beef head meat in both the boiled meat hot pot and the spicy sundaejang was clean with no gamy smell at all, which made this beef boiled meat hot pot a real winner for me💕

After finishing the boiled meat, you can enjoy the accompanying scorched rice as nurungjitang (scorched rice soup). It's simmered bubbling in the rich broth with the crispy scorched rice cooked into it thoroughly. It's on the sweet side though, so it might not suit everyone's taste — I recommend trying it only after you've cleared out all the boiled meat!

Geumganejangteo's basic side dishes are diced radish kimchi and green onion kimchi, and the green onion kimchi went so well with the boiled meat that I refilled it several times haha

You can conveniently refill side dishes yourself at the self-serve bar, and if you ask staff for extra spicy peppers for the dipping sauce, they'll bring them right over. The combo of spicy pepper and boiled meat was so good I loaded up on extras 😆

Salt, pepper, chili powder, perilla seed powder and various other seasonings are also available, so it was nice to season things to taste.

## Daytime drinking atmosphere and 1,000 won off takeout

We went for daytime drinks with friends this time, so I got to take interior photos after the lunch crowd cleared out. The place is so clean and pleasant that it seemed like a spot families come to often too. With a ₩1,000 discount on takeout and delivery available, Geumganejangteo also looked like a great option for ordering in for a hangover cure.
