She also explains how to apply each step, and when I took products out of my makeup pouch she said things like "Oh, this is a good product," and praised me for buying well :) So I wouldn't forget the order, she wrote on the paper "1. Sunscreen 2. Color correcting 3. Foundation 4. Cushion (portable)." I pressed products in with a pad, tapping lightly. This was new to me: if you absorb products with your palms, they get absorbed into your hands, not your face..?? I'd been patting with my palms, plap plap plap, all this time without knowing T_T So I applied serum with the tips of two or three fingers and tapped it in. I used to tap until it dried, but you don't need to: spread it once and tap a few times. Same for cream! ### Do you still need sunscreen if you have a cushion? The teacher said sunblock lasts about 3–4 hours, and a cushion alone isn't enough, so you need to apply sunscreen separately. I'd thought a cushion also blocks UV, so I could skip sunscreen, but she told me a cushion is for touch-ups and doesn't last long~! ### When should you use primer? Applying primer to your pores and T-zone keeps makeup from breaking down for a long time. But since it clogs pores, she said it's best not to use it unless it's a special occasion T_T... Today in the skin base class, I used foundation and primer for the first time..! ## How do you cover acne and dark circles? Color correcting Before foundation, you first neutralize red areas like acne with a green concealer and dark circles with a pink one. I used a The Saem concealer. What I most wanted to cover was acne.. I told her that when I try to cover it, it gets cakey and the skin looks lifted. So before laying down a thin layer of foundation, for dark circles you pick up pink on a brush and gently press it in with a puff; for red spots like acne, you apply green with a brush and gently dab it with a puff. Then you put foundation on top! ## Why use foundation, not a cushion, for the base For the first base layer, you must use foundation, not a cushion!! She explained that the face isn't one even color, so you need to apply different amounts in different areas, and a cushion is for touch-ups. I used to think a cushion was enough for skin makeup. - Pump foundation twice and work it deep into the brush, soft and fluffy - Divide the face into 3 sections and apply - Fill in gently with the cushion from the bottom up, tapping - Use the leftover foundation on the forehead - Do the eyes last and thinnest, since you'll be doing eye makeup anyway ## Even with darker skin, should you use a light concealer? After doing the foundation like that, we moved on to Clio concealer in a light Linen shade~ Honestly, my skin is dark, so I wondered if I should buy a darker one.. but she said that since blemishes were already covered with color correcting, you use a lighter foundation and concealer to finish! I'd thought I should go darker..! She also said it's good to go 1–2 shades lighter than your own skin. The teacher applied concealer not once but three or more times. I usually dab concealer once, blend and call it done, but I only just realized it doesn't matter how many times you apply it.. After about 3 rounds, she dipped powder on a brush, tapped off the excess and lightly set my face, and finished with a primer fixer spray. Compared to my skin at the start, it changed a lot, right? The dark circles and acne marks really faded.
