I was looking for a late dinner spot near Osong Station and found a place where you can eat udon and pork cutlet together. It's close to Osong Station and reasonably priced, so keep it in mind if you're hunting for a filling meal around Osong Station.

It's close enough to walk from Osong Station and sits right on a main road, so it was easy to find!

I was worried nothing would be open this late in the evening, but this place is open until 2am so there was no issue visiting~~ Seeing the menu photos posted outside really got my appetite going..

The interior is decorated in a retro style with chairs, calendars, and various props that recall school days. Tables are spaced generously and there are plenty of seats, so it looks like it can easily handle group visits too!

Baby chairs are also plentiful. There are lots of menu items kids like, so it seems like a good place to bring kids too!

I thought it might be more of a bar, but there were solo diners there, and I went to eat alone too. Meanwhile a group dinner was happening at another table. It's an Osong Station restaurant, Haengbokhan Udon Gage Cheongju Osong Branch, where you can both eat a proper meal and drink!!

For extra side dishes, you use the self-serve corner — kimchi, pickled radish, and red pepper flakes to go with the udon, plus small plates, tongs, and scissors, all kept clean.

This time I ordered kimchi udon, old-style pork cutlet, and water dumplings (mandu). The prices were reasonable, and it seemed like a good lineup for two people to order several dishes and share.

Water, pickled radish, and napa cabbage kimchi are set on the table by default, along with pepper on the table for the udon.

The water dumplings I ordered as a side came out first. They were good to pair between the udon and pork cutlet, and bite-sized so easy to eat. Dipped in the soy sauce that came with them, the seasoning was just right.

Of the three dishes, this felt less like a main dish and more like a side to snack on between bites when you've ordered several things together.

The kimchi udon I ordered next came out right after. Just looking at it, it was packed full of fried tofu and kimchi — got the chills~~

I tried the kimchi udon first. Naturally I tasted the broth first — the tangy sourness of the kimchi came through together with the savory depth of the udon broth~ Rather than tasting like a spicy, aggressive kimchi stew, it felt more like kimchi added into udon broth, which paired well with the noodles.

It's said to be made with self-made noodles crafted with 24 hours of care and a broth made from natural ingredients like kelp and bonito flakes. Maybe because the noodles are self-made, they had a springy texture that was great to slurp up along with the broth.

✔️This is a good pick when you're craving a warm soup dish at lunch — if you're looking for udon near Osong Station and like spicy, kimchi-forward broths, just order the kimchi udon.

Next up, the old-style pork cutlet. The description said it's made fresh daily from never-frozen, top-grade sirloin, and as soon as it arrived, I was glad to see that familiar old-style pork cutlet look~

The breading was crisp first, then the meat inside was tender, and eaten with the sauce it tasted like old-school Western-style pork cutlet. Eating just udon might feel slightly lacking, but pairing it with the cutlet really boosted how satisfying the meal was~ Honestly, I came for the udon but kept reaching for the cutlet too haha. If you're after pork cutlet near Osong, keep in mind you can order it alongside the udon specialty menu.
