Ongdarae Jjimdak is a chicken restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, near Hongik University Station. The 40,000 won boneless cheese jjimdak for 2–3 came with plenty of cheese, wide glass noodles, roomy seating, private rooms, and a free dessert bar. A great Hongdae pick for sharing jjimdak with a group.

Guro bar for donkatsu kimchi stew: Apgujeong Sinpocha

Apgujeong Sinpocha is a Korean pub in Guro, Seoul, one minute from Exit 1 of Gaebong Station. I tried the donkatsu kimchi stew and charcoal-grilled cheese buldak, both 19,000 won, and the two-menu alcohol discount was a bonus. Verdict: a filling, good-value stop for dinner and drinks.
