Gwangmyeong Korean restaurant with no Friday 9pm wait: Sindaebakjip
Sindaebakjip Gwangmyeong Sageori Branch (formerly Sindaebakjip) is a Korean restaurant 100m from Exit 6 of Gwangmyeong Sageori Station in Gyeonggi, specialising in dakbokkeumtang (braised chicken stew) cooked in a cast-iron pot lid. On two visits around 9pm on a Friday there was no wait at all, and the aged-kimchi chicken stew at 18,500 won with ramyeon noodles and a fish cake skewer made an easy late dinner with drinks, while the cheese fried rice was too much for one person and went home in a 1,000-won container. Mild rather than spicy and evenly seasoned, Sindaebakjip suits everyone from older diners to big group gatherings.
