Daegu restaurant with a Sunday lunch wait and makgeolli: Geumdeungeo

Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch is a Korean set-meal restaurant on Deulan-ro in Suseong-gu, Daegu, serving mackerel cured in nuruk salt and grilled in a wood-fired oven. On a Sunday lunch visit after a friend's wedding, the order was the wood-fired grilled mackerel set for two at 38,000 won, an extra whole mackerel for 7,000 won, fire-grilled spicy pork for 9,000 won and makgeolli (rice wine) for 5,000 won, and the mackerel came out moist rather than dry. With a tidy self-service banchan bar and free drinks after the meal, Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch is worth a return trip for a family meal.
