Slow But Barrel Daegu is a large bakery café on Sinpyeong-ro in Dong-gu, Daegu, and it was decorated for Halloween at the time of the visit. Catching up with an old friend, the writer shared four items at Slow But Barrel Daegu: an egg tart, a plain blue cheese financier, a salt bread and a cheese ciabatta sandwich. The spacious indoor and outdoor areas and the 120-space parking lot were also convenient. Verdict: Slow But Barrel Daegu is a good large café for sampling several breads in a Halloween setting and talking for hours.

Dongdaegu Station pub for groups: pollock roe potato pancake, Jibduri

Jibduri Dongdaegu Station Branch (집들이 동대구역점) is a Korean gastropub in Dong-gu, Daegu, about a 5-minute walk from Dongdaegu Station. A group of 5 friends filled the table with spicy beef rosé cream pasta-tang, a Korean beef yukhoe (raw beef) and tataki half-and-half, pollock roe potato pancake, corn tempura, sweet tteokbokki (rice cakes), grilled pollock roe and tomato ramyeon, and the unanimous favourite was the pollock roe potato pancake. Thanks to the soft lighting, a calm room and the food, the group skipped a second round elsewhere and plans to return to Jibduri.
