After-work rice bowls at Hyangtaek, a Jongno hanok restaurant in Daegu
Hyangtaek Daegu Jongno Branch is a hanok-style Korean restaurant on Jongno in Jung-gu, Daegu, directly across from the Starbucks Jongno Gotaek branch. On a weekday after work, the writer and her partner shared the eggplant doenjang rice bowl and the chamnamul squid rice bowl, and the salty, nutty punch of the thick doenjang won over a partner who normally refuses eggplant. Hyangtaek puts its energy into the main dish rather than a spread of side dishes, which made it a tidy, satisfying dinner.
