Dongdaegu lamb skewers and kimchi-style cold okmyeon: Yangbokjeom

Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch (양복점 동대구역점) is a lamb skewer and Chinese restaurant in Dong-gu, Daegu, near Dongdaegu Station. After 8pm on a Sunday, the writer and a roommate ordered 2 servings of lamb skewers (8 plump skewers, 210g per serving), spicy-tangy black guobaorou (sweet-and-sour fried pork) and cold okmyeon (corn noodles) that tasted close to kimchi-mari-guksu (cold noodles in kimchi broth). Apart from the paper cups, Yangbokjeom delivered on taste, cleanliness, service and interior, making it a lamb skewer spot worth a return visit.

Korean rice restaurant with a 3-step eating guide in Daegu: Hyangtaek

Hyangtaek (향택) main branch is a Korean rice restaurant in Dong-gu, Daegu, a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Dongdaegu Station. The writer and a friend followed the 3-step "how to eat it best" guide posted on the table and shared Spanish mackerel gondeure rice (rice with Korean thistle greens, 14,000 won), herring roe bibim noodles and hanpan beoseot (a mushroom dish, 6,000 won). Hyangtaek's hanpan beoseot is a must-order, and the only caveat is that the seaweed with the mackerel gondeure rice may taste fishy to some; otherwise the writer would 100% go back.
