Daegu set-meal restaurant, gim and jeotgal wraps: Hyangtaek Daebong

Hyangtaek Daebong Branch is a tidy Korean set-meal restaurant in Daebong-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu, near Kim Kwang-seok Street and Gyeongbuk University Hospital Station. After first falling for Hyangtaek at its old Gyodong Market location, the writer came back and ordered the eggplant doenjang rice bowl, mixing in the thick gangdoenjang and chives, then wrapping spoonfuls in gopchang gim (thick-cut seaweed) with jeotgal (salted seafood) on top — the kick of the whole meal. For a gentle, easy-on-the-stomach Korean lunch in Daegu, the rice bowls at Hyangtaek Daebong Branch are the ones to order.
