Gangneung hanjeongsik at 2 p.m. with no wait: Saimdang Bueok
Saimdang Bueok is a 17-dish hanjeongsik (Korean set meal) restaurant right in front of Ojukheon in Gangneung, Gangwon. On an early-August trip to Gangneung, the writer booked a table for about 2 p.m. as the first meal of the day and ordered the Saimdang Hansang set at 19,000 won per person, with the butter-grilled scallops and sundubu (soft tofu) the standouts and the whole table set within minutes. Saimdang Bueok is an easy first stop on a Gangneung trip when you want a bit of everything and no queue.
