Ox bone soup and tripe soup in Dongseong-ro, Daegu: Hanwoojang
Hanwoojang is a 24-hour seolleongtang (ox bone soup) and yangtang (beef tripe soup) restaurant on Dongseong-ro in Jung-gu, Daegu, and a Blue Ribbon pick 12 years running. At the end of summer the writer came with her mother and ordered both: the seolleongtang arrived with somyeon noodles and plenty of meat, while the yangtang kept turning up more tripe in the rich broth, seasoned at the table with pepper and condiments. With solid kimchi and kkakdugi plus a self-serve corner of onion, peppers and anchovies, Hanwoojang is an easy call for a hangover bowl or a filling breakfast in Dongseong-ro.
