Daegu ssambap restaurant after a Donghwasa foliage hike: Imga-ne

Imga-ne Ureong Ssambap (임가네우렁쌈밥) is a ssambap (lettuce-wrap rice) restaurant on Seochon-ro in Dong-gu, Daegu, near Donghwasa Temple on Palgongsan. During autumn foliage season, the writer picked from 10+ organic, pesticide-free wrap greens and ate moist herbal boiled pork, mild snail doenjang (soybean paste) that wasn't salty, pot rice and sungnyung (scorched-rice tea). Imga-ne Ureong Ssambap is a good Palgongsan spot for a gentle, healthy meal with parents after a hike or a foliage outing.

Sunset restaurant in Songdo, Pohang: 240g hanwoo chop steak, Plan A

Plan A Restaurant (플랜에이레스토랑) is an ocean-view Western restaurant on the 4th floor of a building right in front of Songdo Beach in Nam-gu, Pohang. On a long summer evening, the writer had the 240g Plan A chop steak made with Korean hanwoo beef, a shrimp rosé pasta and an orange ade while watching the sea and the sunset to the very end. From the well-cooked hanwoo chop steak to the pulpy orange ade, Plan A Restaurant got the view, the atmosphere and the food right, and the writer would happily come back.

Japanese restaurant in Songjeong, Busan: salmon bowl and canapé, Yuok

Yuok (유옥) is a Japanese restaurant near Songjeong Beach in Haeundae, Busan, serving its own take on Osaka-style eel rice bowls. On a rainy day at Yuok, the jumbo unaju (eel rice bowl) set and the salmon bowl set came with eel grilled to order, salmon with no fishy taste, and a cream cheese canapé and plum tea for dessert. For a clean, filling Japanese meal in Songjeong, Yuok is a good choice.

Pohang Korean BBQ by Yeongildae Beach: free doenjang sulbap, Neolpanji

Neolpanji Pohang Yeongildae Branch is a makchang (grilled pork intestine) and ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly) BBQ restaurant right in front of Yeongildae Beach in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. The writer grilled 1 serving of makchang and 3 servings of aged ogyeopsal on a stone grill and got free doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice stew) through the receipt review event. The pre-grilled makchang at Neolpanji cooked quickly and tasted nutty with no gamey smell, and the kimchi noodles made a clean finish.
