Seocho Korean BBQ full by 7pm Monday: veggie-loaded couple set, Ugojip

Ugojip (우고집) is a beef Korean BBQ restaurant in the basement of Banpo Shopping Town Building 5 by the Express Bus Terminal in Seocho, Seoul. On a last-minute Monday evening after work, the writer had the couple set of 400g woosamgyeop, tosisal and galbisal with brisket doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and the house sauce and generous, nicely grilling vegetables stood out. Verdict: Ugojip is a go-to near the Express Bus Terminal whenever you crave beef brisket or woosamgyeop.

Sadang Station pub for buffalo wings and cheese tteokbokki: Weizenhaus

Weizenhaus Bangbae Branch 1 (바이젠하우스 방배1호점) is a pub-style bar in a basement right in front of Exit 11 of Sadang Station in Seocho, Seoul. Instead of pizza, the writer had buffalo wings (19,000 won) and cheese tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes topped with several cheeses, 16,000 won) with draft beer as dinner, and the wings, cooked just right, paired surprisingly well with the cheesy tteokbokki. The free snack chips were soggy, but the draft beer, the food, the roomy two-level layout and the indoor smoking room make Weizenhaus Bangbae Branch 1 a solid Sadang Station bar.

Korean pub near Gyodae Station: bossam kept warm on a burner, Daseon

Daseon Kalguksu Gyodae branch (다선칼국수 교대직영점) is a Korean restaurant serving kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and bossam (boiled pork wraps), occupying an entire building near Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. A regular with more than 10 visits ordered the large bossam (38,000 won) and blanched cuttlefish sukhoe (25,000 won) for weekday evening drinks, and was happy with the pork kept warm on a burner to the last bite, the tasty kimchi and the barley rice available on request. For bossam and soju near Gyodae Station, Daseon Kalguksu is worth it, and its cuttlefish sukhoe is worth adding to the order.
