Jongno 3-ga BBQ restaurant for pork jowl singles: Meongseokjip
Meongseokjip Jongno 3-ga Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in an alley between Jongno 3-ga Station and the Ikseon-dong hanok village in Seoul, with open-air, outdoor-stall atmosphere. Arriving at 5pm on a weekend meant about an hour's wait, then one serving each of pork jowl (hangjeongsal) and pork belly (samgyeopsal) ordered a la carte, eaten with self-serve lettuce wraps, green onion kimchi and bean sprouts, and finished with seaweed flake fried rice. Meongseokjip is better for a loud, lively night of meat and drinks with friends than for a quiet dinner.
